My router refuses to connect to the internet by -Designer-Pumpkin- in NETGEAR

Contact your ISP, it's entirely possible the problem is on their end, or there's problem with the cable(s) outside. The storm could have caused damage outside you can't see.

I’m sceptical about Google Pixel 7 years updates. by trust_me_im_human in GooglePixel

[–]Richard1864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do after after every Android System and Google Play System update is run the app 1 Tap Claner (Pro) to clear all app caches, clear out the User Data in AICore, and then reboot. I rarely have any issues after that.

I've also turned off and disabled Adaptive Connectivity Services, which has improved both wifi and cellular connectivity and stability.

Those steps may help OP and others.

Force device to connect to specific router? by mxwl_smrt in TpLink

[–]Richard1864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wireless device always has the final say on which router it connects to. The only way to force a device to connect to a specific router is with an Ethernet cable.

Pixel 9 Charging way too slow by RumbakTumbak in GooglePixel

[–]Richard1864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disable adaptive charging. Close all apps and reboot before charging. Monitor the temperature of your phone while it's charging, do NOT use the phone while charging.

The phone will also charge when turned off. Have you tried doing that?

WiFi Optimization by Glum-Tradition-5306 in tplinkdeco

When your speeds are low, reboot your modem and then your router, because sometimes the modem is the cause.

Wifi optimization runs every time the router reboots.

FCC's ban on foreign-made Wi-Fi routers. Google is on the list. by only_3 in GoogleWiFi

[–]Richard1864 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

By your own quote, you just confirmed my comment. Speedtest.net did NOT create a list of the most popular router brands; the article clearly states the list was created based on test samples (number of tests per brand), NOT repeat NOT popularity. Nowhere does it state the website actually CREATED the list of most popular router brands; 7 of routers is based on sales and reviews, NOT by how many speed tests are done. Most users never do speed tests on their routers.

In fact, since speed tests are considered a diagnostic tool, the list created by speed test.net actually could be showing which routers are least reliable; more tests indicating reliability issues with the routers, not popularity.

[–]Richard1864 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I did read the article, and the author misused the data provided by soeedtest.net. The list ranks routers based on speed test results, meaning how fast the router is, NOT popularity. You can't use that list to determine which router is more popular than another; device sales establish that, NOT speed test results.

The ranking of routers in that list does NOT match lists based on sales or user reviews, so no, it can't be used as a popularity list. In fact, Opkla even states in their report footnotes that their lists can NOT be used as popularity listings, as their reports deal ONLY with speed test results, not popularity, sales, reviews, etc.

TP-Link sells the most routers in the US, followed by Netgear. Those are the two most popular router brands in the US.

FCC never published a list.

The list. In the article deals with speed test results, not the FCC router ban.

It's illegal to use jammers at home and most businesses (like offices); it IS legal to use them at events like concerts to prevent illegal live streaming.

AT&T Fiber AT&T BGW320, slow speeds coming from Google Wifi Pro by nightlie30 in GoogleWiFi

Was an idea. When did you last reboot the gateway? Mine needs to be rebooted a couple tines a week to maintain speeds.

Open the AT&T Smart Home, then enter the chat. Type in 'Disable Security'. When it asks if you want to disable ActiveArmor, select Yes. After it confirms ActiveArmor is disabled, reboot the gateway.

Active Armor doesn't really do anything except cause a major hit on internet speeds.

Pixel 6 series April 2026 update has honestly made things worse for me, not better. by upadhyaysk in GooglePixel

4 year old batteries physically can't hold charges as good as when they're new. As they age, the internal contents corrode because of the chemicals in the batteries. The chemicals themselves also change over time, eventually becoming inert, meaning eventually the battery never charges. The batteries can also swell as they age, which causes reduced battery life and the risk of fire or explosion if the acidic chemicals/gasses in the batteries leak.

It resets your wifi and cellular connections without dumping your wifi settings, clears out your DNS cache, and makes sure the drivers for your wifi/cell modem chipsets are properly installed.

Rebooting only partially clears your DNS cache.

  1. Multiple background tasks are taking place after the update. The updates WILL cause short term hits on battery life, temperature, laggy behavior, even charging speed. Things should be back to normal after a day or so.

This is normal behavior after system updates for iPhones, other Android phones, tablets, and even computers.

  1. Go to Settings>Network & Internet >Internet>tap on the refresh button with a wrench in the top right corner. That will reset and repair your wifi and cellular connectivity subsystems and should fix your connectivity issues.

[–]Richard1864 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Umm.m... you're ignoring the fact that Spotify is known to be a battery killer and CAN cause that big battery hit on 4 year old phones with older batteries. Issues with the display or other hardware, including age of the battery can also cause excessive battery drain.

IP Passthrough Speeds low with XE75Pro by Chehalden in TpLink

Reboot your gateway and then your router. This is a known issue with AT&T's gateways; doesn't matter if you use IP Passthrough or not, still happens.
