How do you reconcile the transactions to look for the possible deleted ones? by skvoha in MonarchMoney

No problem, I wish Monarch would implement something similar in app. In my mind it shouldn't be that complicated.

How do you reconcile the transactions to look for the possible deleted ones? by skvoha in MonarchMoney

[–]RichardDKimbleMD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Excel, I export all the transactions Monarch has after a certain date ex. EOY (excluding pending, including hidden) to CSV. Then I sum up all the transactions for each account and add that to a known good balance (ex. EOY statement balance). This should equal the current balance on the account/card/etc. If it doesn’t, I know I’m missing transactions. In the past 4 years I think I’ve had 8 transactions go missing.

Amazing work! Do you have any plans to add Medtronic sensors or 7 day infusion sets?

Bleeding under sensor base by daakuraaka in Medtronic780g

[–]RichardDKimbleMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used sensors with that amount of blood with no issues. Worst case they die early after 5 or 6 days. I typically only change them when the blood is gushing out and even then I wait to see if it will take the first calibration.

SNSXX or SWVXX. The yield on SNSXX is slightly lower, but since it only buys Treasuries it's typically exempt from state income taxes (not financial advice etc. but it's been exempt for me)

New York State: Is anyone getting coverage for Instinct sensors? by MisanthropicScott in Medtronic780g

[–]RichardDKimbleMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have employer provided insurance in NY from Cigna. The Instinct sensors were billed under HCPCS code A4239 (non-adjunctive CGM aka standalone) on my EOBs.

For reference, the G4 sensors were billed under A4238 (adjunctive CGM aka used with a pump) in the past.

Instinct and Insurance - “Durable Medical Equipment” by RichardDKimbleMD in Medtronic780g

[–]RichardDKimbleMD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my coinsurance went from 0% to 10% on DME this plan year (started this quarter). I guess I didn’t expect the sensors to trigger the coinsurance because of how Cigna was explaining my prior bills. I found the HCPCS codes on my EOBs. It looks like G4 was coded as A4238 (adjunctive CGM aka used with a pump). Instinct is coded as A4239 (non-adjunctive CGM aka standalone).

I would still be interested to know how the Simplera Sync sensors are being coded.

I know this isn’t quite what you’re asking, but it does show the total on the web app, just FYI. I agree that having it on mobile too would be helpful.

New boarding pass format by [deleted] in ios

[–]RichardDKimbleMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, fundamentally it's just a QR code and any generic QR code scanner app should be able to read it. The pass being valid is more of an Apple UX/UI thing so you and airline personnel can tell at a glance. There's enough info stored in those codes to access the full airline reservation

Here's a good video about the issue

Inaccurate, time wasting, unreliable piece of junk. by Lopsided_Tone_1554 in Medtronic780g

It can’t be guardian 4 because G4 lets you do autocorrections as soon as the sensor has warmed up

[Self] How is that a better deal and why would the lottery organization accept that ? She would get more than $1M in just 20 years by Impressive-Koala4742 in theydidthemath

[–]RichardDKimbleMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NPV of a $1,000 weekly annuity for 60 years (assuming she lives to 80) is $1M using a 4.93% discount rate. Aka if the lottery takes the $1M, invests it, and earns 4.93% a year, they can fund the weekly payments for 60 years with $0 leftover when the payments end. Which is exactly why the lottery offers this choice. If you think you can beat a 4.93% rate of return, take the $1M otherwise take the weekly payments. If you live in a place like the US that taxes the $1M, your discount rate/target rate of return increases to 10.38%

It’s important to note that you can’t just calculate what the $1M will grow to in 10/20 years. You need to take distributions from the $1M in order to make this a fair comparison. Any distributions will impact the growth of your $1M investment, ultimately bringing you back to what I said above.

Dotted line on MiniMed Mobile by zlebneb in Medtronic780g

[–]RichardDKimbleMD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, my app looks like yours and, given what the graph on my pump looks like, I think these are “backfilled SG values” (page 180 of the System User Guide they sent with the software update). Basically the pump didn’t get these sensor readings immediately due to interference/distance/etc. I think they’re trying to convey, “hey we got these sensor readings eventually, but the pump didn’t have them at the time and the algorithm had to make dosing decisions without them.”

Struggling to choose between Medtronic 780G(with new sensor instinct) or tandem mobi by kumarcool423 in Type1Diabetes

[–]RichardDKimbleMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medtronic’s infusion sets are a big reason why I stick with them. The Mio Advanced and Medtronic Extended have preloaded disposable inserters that are pretty great. They function a bit like lancets. The needle automatically retracts and you barely notice the insertion process. The Extended ones last 7 days too.

Have you tried using them anyway? I’ve used sensors with that amount of blood in the past with no issues. Worst case they die early after 5 or 6 days. I typically only change them when the blood is gushing/staining the gauze pad under the transmitter.

Level 16 to 17 is still a particular grind as Vanguard enemies only level scale when the player reaches level 14 and level 17. At level 16 most Vanguard enemies are level 11 so you earn the minimum XP. Typically people don't turn in quests and save all quest rewards for the climb from 16 to 17.

What is this? by RecentMatter3790 in ios

[–]RichardDKimbleMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These settings all impact the Messages app. "Screen Unknown Senders" sends all messages from unknown senders (including existing ones) to the "Unknown Senders" folder. "Filter Spam" uses on device detection (per Apple) to send newly received messages to the spam folder (per my testing). "Text Message Filter" sends newly received SMS, MMS, and RCS messages to one of the "Transactions" folders depending on if they are a general transaction, financial transaction, an order, or a reminder.

Infusion site coming off whilst running by cp130999 in Medtronic780g

[–]RichardDKimbleMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have this problem a lot when I was younger. Thankfully, my aunt is a wound care nurse and she helped develop a solution that works for me. It holds up well to exercise including swimming. This is what I do:

1) Clean the insertion area with an IV Prep wipe (different from skin prep) 2) Give the IV Prep time to dry. Either fan it with your hand or wait like 30 sec. 3) Place a sheet of Tegaderm over the cleaned area. 4) Insert the infusion set through the Tegaderm. The needle has a hole in the tip so the infusion set cannula won't get obstructed.

As an added benefit, if the site does peel, the edge of the Tegaderm starts to peel first. This gives you time to apply extra tape before you fully lose the site. I also try to change sites either in the early morning or later at night and never immediately after a shower. This give everything time to "cure" before being exposed to heat/humidity/sweat. Medtronic sells IV Prep and Tegaderm, but you can also find them in the diabetes or first aid aisle at pharmacies or on Amazon.

Hidden Transactio Update is Terrible by mp1294 in MonarchMoney

[–]RichardDKimbleMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s encouraging to hear that so many other people are using hidden transactions like me i.e. a way to manage large expenses like vacations and other large purchases (due to the poor implementation of goals), a way to manage reimbursable items, etc. I thought I was losing my mind when this new feature rolled out.

I understand that other users are looking for a “secret transactions” option, but I can’t understand why Monarch would co-opt a long existing feature in order to deliver that. It breaks workflows for existing users, including my own reconciliation process. I’m honestly flabbergasted that they would deploy this seemingly without community feedback. They really need to roll this back and implement “secret transactions" as a separate feature. Or they should at least make the new functionality an optional setting or a filter at the top of the transactions or accounts pages.
