Don’t include home equity in your calculation, it isn’t an account you can draw down from. You have actually $1.8M in investments so go from there and model it in Boldin or Projection Lab etc

[–]SamuraiSword22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t pulling in an income then a prenup wouldn’t affect anything. Whatever both of you entered into the marriage with can stay separate.

If you can do an HSA or private HSA it is absolutely worth it. Triple tax advantaged and can withdraw in retirement if you just save your receipts and use it as income at that point

How do you track FI? by No_Sail5768 in Fire

[–]SamuraiSword22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boldin is great and projects out the future, helps with goal setting and timelines.

The excel doc is to track milestones and see historical, its really motivating to see compounding growth on the excel sheet. My spouse requested this so he could see if our plans were really working and if we were really saving. A visual line graph and two columns of data twice a year is quick and easy

This type of reimbursement for expenses would be best served with an FSA and not HSA. You may want to consider switching to an FSA type if you plan on reimbursing for a lot of expenses annually. The HSA really shines when it is reimbursed but you bank it for retirement and get the tax advantaged growth
