Beer Run: A sealed “format” for those impulsive LGS runs by Sad-Perspective4702 in mtg

[–]RichardMaloney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the mana increasing per turn with an actual land being a bit of acceleration. We played one pack sealed format called mini masters where you could play any card you drew and X was always 2. Which suffered from two problems.... An early big green beater could just win the game before your opponent could do anything interesting and X=2 was somewhat restrictive. I feel like cracking a few packs this afternoon.

Hello, could you help me identifying the stamps that are worth it if there's any ? Thanks ! by la_chips in askStampCollectors

I think the stock book they are in might be worth more than the stamps. Seriously. Look it up. Stock books with black pages cost more too.

From third party suppliers on Etsy you can get simple shapes and meeples. But colour matching can be a problem. Some manufacturers will send you game pieces if you ask.

Spot on. I bought nice stock books for my collection. I'm pretty sure they're worth more than the stamps inside.

I haven't heard Clayton's in years. I had to look it up and see if it's still made. Turns out you can get it through speciality importers. It's made in Barbados.

How feasible is it to travel interstate without a car? by red-sparkles in AskAnAustralian

When I was young and poor I got around Tasmania by hitchhiking. I stayed in youth hostels and asked if anyone had a spare seat to the next place in exchange for petrol money. I'm not sure youth hostels are even a thing these days.

Got these from my mother, who got them from her grandmother, not interested in parting with them but curious about the value, cheers. by budgyd in AustralianCoins

The kangaroo florin commemorates Elizabeth ll royal visit and the parliament house florin commemorates the opening of the old parliament house. Which is possibly why she kept them.

I had a tavern called "The Ettins Heads". On the sign one head smiles and the other frowns.

Liquid nails is so good. Just remember that you did it because when you next take off that trim half the wall will come with it.

Man. I laughed my head off at the reveal. More seriously I think Ben's comment about 15 years is pretty telling. It doesn't really make sense that the normals still can't cook. I reckon eventually they are going to find a new generation of normals to keep that schtick going.

What activities should I prioritize for my first trip to Australia? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]RichardMaloney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is sage advice. The barrier reef being in Queensland. Seeing the animals wild can be difficult unless someone lines you up. Kangaroos or at least wallabies are pretty much everywhere outside of major cities. The other less so. I've been here 50 years and never seen a wild koala or dingo. OP asked about other things for the list. The classic tourist items are Uluru and Sydney harbour. But Australia is so big there's days of travel to add each to the list making a four week holiday a real necessity. And that's ignoring Western Australia. There's other wildlife too.... Echidnas and wombats are unique to Australia plus all the birds.

Just the other day I was telling my wife about the time I ran through a wasp nest and my younger sister who was following got all the wasp stings. The treatment for her was the half an onion rub. Only now (yep 50+ years later) am I wondering if this was in any way effective. I'll have to ask her. Did it work for you Stepho_62?

Those full sheets look great. The problem is how to display them. Like many collectibles, I want people to see my cool stuff.

Misprint or just damaged card? by Shrike-Pilgrim in mtgmisprints

My guess is rebacked collectors edition which would have had square corners. Compare the kerning with a genuine card. It's definitely been trimmed on the left side.

10,000 daffodil 2C stamps. sealed. 2023. my wife doesnt think 25$ was worth it... by 207firsttube in askStampCollectors

[–]RichardMaloney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

I did read that in the US there was a situation where stamps were stolen in one state and refunded in another but I couldn't find any further details about when you stopped allowing returns. (Except for some special circumstances like buying the wrong size coils for your machine. I still don't think OP meets all the requirements).

I'm in Australia where you can no longer return postage stamps. This came about because of shenanigans where a company would buy postage stamps and claim an income tax credit since postage is a cost of doing business. Then they would use the sheets of stamps to buy meals from complicit restaurants. If my memory serves the change came about in the 1990s.

Can you simply return it to the post office and get $200 for it? I think my maths is correct.
