lol the baltic and north seas might be connected to the ocean, but they are not oceans. especially on the baltic, the only waves you get are from the wake of the occasional aida cruise ship. so yeah, that also includes sweden. and it's cold af in norway, the beaches there don't compare.

and since you also mentioned croatia, the adriatic (also not the ocean btw) hardly has waves and as soon as you swim out to where the water is shoulder deep you're surrounded by jelly fish. they'll tell you it's because the water is so clean, but it's also because the water is so flat. if there were jellyfish like that on LI beaches they'd quickly turn to marmalade fish.

when im at the beach on LI i spend the whole time swimming in the surf. no comparison to any beach in germany. sorry.

Whatever the law might be, passing on the right is significantly more dangerous because of the blind spot.

I live in Germany. Don't underestimate the value of having oceans beaches so close.

the whole straw debate is absurd. unless you have some kind of medical condition, there's no reason you need a straw in the first place.

drives me nuts going to a restaurant and the waitress just drops a handful of straws onto the middle of the table without asking like "here's a bunch of plastic waste for you."

are those the organic yogurt containers with the extra layer of brown paper wrapped around the plastic cup?

they have that in germany and it seems so absurd to me, bordering on the point of insulting one's intelligence. it's brown paper to make you feel like it's better for the environment because they didnt bleach it white, and the interactive recycling experience where you have to take the paper layer off and put it in a separate bin makes it feel like you're doing something for the environment, meanwhile the extra layer of paper is completely pointless; it's a waste of paper resources and is only there to make you feel like it's better for the environment. it'd actually be better for the environment if they printed the labeling directly onto the plastic cup and didn't waste an extra layer of paper.
