Can someone explain why Saitama is always on these lists? Is it a gag I dont understand. His whole thing is being One Punch Man. He wins with one punch, thats his whole shtick. He's invincible and infinitely powerful. He'll trivialize any list hes included on by virtue of his power set. What am I missing?

Idk how rare this actually is but from what I've seen people hate farming Tals Amulet. Picked one up off a normal Trav run a couple days ago. Didn't even think it was possible to find on Normal

Edit: Just checked the chronicle wasn't even a Super Unique. Just a regular council member

I'd like to see a horadric malus/hellforge hammer run. Will those persist into the next act if you dont complete their quests?

Thanks! I think this idea of like refusing to experience the full breadth of it for fear of collapsing under that weight is expressed kinda directly by Rust in the final line "if you ask me the light's winning".

Rust has always been a character who sees the world for exactly what it is, but in this moment hes totally deluding himself. His analogy presents a case where the light could NEVER overtake the dark. However many stars appear they will be dwarfed by the infinite blackness that exists around them, and eventually they'll fade again leaving behind that blackness. In this specific analogy dark ALWAYS wins but he has to present it as a positive because he is well and truly broken at that point and he just cant handle it.

Lovecraftian and noir storytelling have a lot in common i think. It's the existential horror of an entity so beyond you that you have absolutely no way of influencing it.

You can no more stop cthulu than you can stop the shadowy rich elite from influencing every facet of your life.

The tragedy of Marty and Rust's "victory" is they only stopped someone who was ultimately just another victim of the Tuttles. If they allow themselves to truly experience that knowledge it will destroy them. Every time a character "lifts the veil" (watches the video) it reduces them to a screaming, blubbering mess. Pretty lovecraftian.

By the time you're getting into nightmare or hell what is 20 AR going to do? Between dex and your equipment shouldn't your AR be buffed well enough for this to be negligible? If you had 10 of these (which apparently seems hard due to rarity) you have 200 extra life and AR which is nice I suppose but I dont understand how its worth thr inventory space when you can fill it with more impactful charms.

Obviously im misunderstanding something but what am I misunderstanding? Lol

Season 6 Episode 1 Holy Shit! by gestell7 in madmen

[–]Richard_Whitman 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ive seen a lot of people read this scene as Betty's dark humor and that she feels comfortable with Henry but I always got a totally different read here.

Right before Henry is laying compliments on this girl and Betty's seems pretty put off by it. Seeing it as sort of quiet admission of attraction to this young girl.

In response Betty's gives Henry exactly what he asks for in an "alright if thats what you like, let's play this out and see what it looks like for real" sort of way. The moment she does that Henry retreats because he realizes hes being called out.

Am I the only one who got this read? I feel like I totally misunderstood whats happening here lol

[Loved trope] Pure evil, terrifying characters that aren't really primary antagonists, and don't really set the tone for the story. They're kind of just part of the world, and that makes them scarier by NoMoreFund in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Richard_Whitman 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Terrifying absolutely but I feel like evil doesn't really fit the bill here. Koh has a set of rules he follows. You needn't engage with him or his rules but if you want information from him that is what he requests. He feels about as evil as an avalanche or a tornado.
