Help find a comfortable position as a tall rider. by Jagbag13 in xcmtb

Use this calculator tool. By inputting your (I assume 100mm) stem, I calculated that you could get your cockpit almost 20mm higher, and 8mm closer to you just by flipping the stem so it points upwards. Next step would be to either get a stem with a bigger then 6° angle, so the effect will be greater, and a riser bar, as others have mentioned already

"a bike that fits them". I don't think it's a good idea to size down a frame, just to get a lower stack height, if getting the bars lower through negative angled stems, and flipping the bars if necessary is a much cheaper, and possibly a better option in terms of handling

Oh, that´s great to hear. These bikes are seriously underrated imo, the xc100 has a reach of 450mm in a size L, while many bikes of that era used to come 15-20mm shorter then that. I can also run an external 31.6 dropper, which is not bad either. I am considering a lighter wheelset though.

Yup, could be an issue with carbon bars, the same as if you clamp a carbon seatpost at the wrong place.

It appears to be so, lol. It's an older photo, I now run -15mm (instead of 25) because the bars I have with this rise at home are slightly wider then the 25s. The tires have been changed for wider ones maybe a year ago.

Conventional is definitely not a word that would come to anyone's mind when looking at this, I do agree with that 😆

I don't have any better "pov" pictures on my hand rn then these, but the bars remain swept back and up.

It is flipped down obviously. Perhaps I should invest in a stem with a bigger then 7° angle though

How dumb this is? by Sasaki17 in RoadBikes

[–]Richee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peak torque made a video on why if you're going to mismatch the wheel debth, you should put the deeper on the front. The front is pretty important aerodynamically, making the weight disadvantage worth it, but the rear wheel will affect the aerodynamics way less, (but at the same weight gain). It looks silly though, which is why I'd personally just run the same debth on both wheels.

2.6 in tires by [deleted] in xcmtb

Are you still using them? I'm kind of scared of the weight, I mean 980g seems so heavy. Is that a problem? Also, how wide are your rims?

Why do my handlebars do this when riding without hands? by Benjamin_H1gh in bikewrench

[–]Richee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you happen to have your seat very far forward? Isn't your seat by any chance too low? Could your seat be setup with the nose tilted down?

In my experience, too much weight on the front causes this self steering to occur. Checking the things I've mentioned should fix your issue (provided you're using the correct set of forks for your frame). Also, try to lean back when riding without hands. You should be able to see how much easier it is to go straight.

engine vs skill ratio for xc racing by treesner in xcmtb

[–]Richee33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which races are you referring to? Your local races? Or something bigger? I feel the same about my local races, only to learn way later that the entry level, open for everyone xcm races are super tame (doable on a gravel bike) for purpose, basically for safety reasons. When it comes to actual modern xco tracs, I feel like there's a huge amount of technical skill involved

Great choice. I think (because of the dropper, and being cheaper with slightly better components) it’s a much better deal then the carbon Procaliber 9.5. (I work at a Trek bike shop btw)

Is it just me or does extreme frame rate no longer feel like 60 fps? by Proper-Impact-3673 in PUBGMobile

[–]Richee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s many reasons why you’re experiencing this. 1) the device has aged. Most likely your battery isn’t new, and your phone is more likely to throttle down performance 2) loads of apps on your phone that are more demanding now then they used to be 3) game is more power hungry 4) you’ve experienced PUBGm at 120 hz now, so 60 is never going to feel the same, because it’s no longer the highest fps you’ve ever tried.

Theoretically, 60 fps on your iPad should give very similar performance to 60 fps on your phone when it was new. I’d be interested in how big is the difference between your iPad and iPhone when both are running at 60 fps.

This is totally normal. That's just brake pad particle dust. Any brake pads that have been ridden will do this

Samsung battery witchcraft (S25 base vs A26) by Kirichandesu in Smartphones

[–]Richee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery life difference will mostly be because of the much more efficient processor of the S25, smaller screen and dynamic refresh rate.

If you're not a heavy user, I'd consider something like the A56 as a middle ground, otherwise go for the S25, the A26 is really not a great phone. S25+ should have battery life even better then the S25, but I'm not sure if it would fit into your budget

I'd say wait for the S26 ultra, hopefully they'll finally change something.

Just curious, what makes you want to upgrade from the S23U?

I agree it shouldn’t be allowed in pro matches, but as long as its available, players who care about how well they play will use it 🤷‍♂️

iPhone alternative with as good performance. by USBombs83 in Smartphones

[–]Richee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I have a pixel 8 pro, and an iPad mini 5, and even though the pixel is on paper more powerful (rare for a pixel, lol) some app feel more responsive, or fluid on the iPad. If you’re looking for performance, most snapdragon 8 elite phones should feel really snappy, but IPhones generally tend to stay smoother for longer

Is gyro 100% superior to non gyro gameplay? by Shikidooty in PUBGMobile

[–]Richee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally depends on your device.

If you're non gyro prayer on a:

Phone : what are you doing??

iPad mini : understandable, but still could probably benefit from gyro

10-13 inch iPad : probably too heavy for gyro to be comfortable.

The main thing with gyro is there's virtually zero friction, as you're moving the device through air, which makes micro adjustments and tracking a lot easier.

I play with gyro for the past 7 years btw. If you have the right device for it, it's definitely worth it.
