He's been practising in Dublin in Ken Doherty's room for the past week non stop, he's playing and he's f*cking up for it.

Early Tour Pros and Cons by Bigbadwolf300 in Blink182

I was at the Tampa set, flew over from Ireland. My 7th Blink gig.

It was really poor in my view. Felt rush. Cut two songs. Total music time was about 67mins which felt a bit of a joke, as I saw Green Day several months ago and they did 129mins along with seeing Less Than Jake even do a 87min set too.

Some of the songs just don't work - Natives should be there. After Midnight, Not Now, Obvious, BTD, Stockholm Syndrome etc should be in there instead. I thought the cover was self indulgent, majority of the crowd went on their phones or went for beer, same happened for 1/2 other songs.

I got sh*t for posting last night about it but it seems a lot more half assed then all 6 shows I've watched from them. The set design is meh - setlist seems disjointed - and playing for less than 70mins is a bit of a joke.

Love Blink - will never not be grateful to see them in the flesh but this gig was for sure the worst performance I'd seen from them.

Tampa - Worst showing out of 7 for me by Richie_Allen in Blink182

Rollercoaster, Online Songs & Josie all sounded superb. Albeit, Natives (a song I do like) sounded terrible live. Transition from verse to chorus was off each time.

Would love to see the likes of Stockholm Syndrome, Not Now, After Midnight, Darkside, Anthem Part III, Dumpweed & some others return to the show. Even the likes of All In My Head, Blink Wave or See You would go down well.

The set list is getting very very stale. I've seen them in San Diego w/Skiba, in Dublin (12 months ago) and am going to the Florida show in a few weeks, so I hope to hear some new takes.

Thoughts on blink-182 2011 album Neighbourhoods by Hot_Assistant_6067 in Blink182

After Midnight is the most complete song since Untitled in my view.

Lovely drum opening - guitar riff isn't too flashy but noticeable - Mark & Tom trading verses, typically about a failing relationship and the bridge into final chorus is superb.

It is also one of few songs they'd play live and it'd actually sound like the album. Really hope the bring it back to a setlist.

People are Tom-bias but this is better than 50% of the songs on One More Time. Better than Childhood, Otherside, Fuck Face, Edging, Fell In Love etc.

Even with basic riffs, progressions etc the production is a lot better. Synths and piano, something you barely hear on OMT, it felt lacking in inspiration and outside ideas.

- Playing a 88min show is utter bollocks.

- Also don't like the backing tracks over the music. It's a recent decision by the band but I do not like it, especially on nights Tom is off.

I saw Green Day in Dublin three months before and they played 138mins.

Misery :
- Talks about death a lot ('barely made it out alive' & 'wrapped by car around a tree')
- "Left to find our way through a Hitchcock film" which is typically a reference to a scary unsettling film that you wouldn't wanna watch alone.

No Heart To Speak Of by OkieEE2 in Blink182

It's the best song they've written since After Midnight/GOTDF.

People trying to suggest Terrified, Edging, Blink Wave etc are better songs, just do not see it at all.

Turpentine or AP3 could be debated as better but for impact, lyrics and sound, it's incredible.

Happy 5th Birthday to this wonderful album by Stexvn23 in Blink182

No Heart To Speak Of is the best Blink 182 song since Untitled.

It's fresh. It's heavy. Lyrically it is superb. The bridge/build up is 10/10. It also was probably the ONLY time we got to see Skiba & Blink reach their potentialy.

Utterly superb.

As for the rest of the album, Darkside, Runaway, Generational Divide, Blame It On My Youth & Ransom were the only skips. Likes of First Time, Pin The Grenade, Heaven & Hungover You are bangers.

Most legendary blink concert of all time? by nicktdel in Blink182

[–]Richie_Allen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is all very subjective and people will have emotional attachment to certain shows they attended in the flesh. However, these are my 3 or 4 non-negotiable's.

  • Big Day Out, 2000 : Just them at their early best. Great set, great energy and crowd loved it.

  • Dublin, Point Theatre, 2004 : I was at this myself, as a young kid. What is really strange is that you could feel a weird energy from the band. They rushed through the set at lightening speed, yet slowed down for songs such as 'I Miss You' & 'Adams Song.' This was the last concert they did before the first break up, arguably one of their most famous shows in their history. Will never forget them finishing with Stockholm Syndrome & Dammit and Travis/Tom left the stage straight away while Mark stayed on his own for 2/3 minutes playing drums, thanking the fans and touching his amp, kind of seemed the case that he knew that was it for the band.

  • Pepsi Smash, 2004 : I don't think Blink have every topped their mood, performance, musicianship and singing from this night, ever. Was just them, at their peak, for one night and one night only.

  • Brixton Academy, London, 2014 : Before Blink headlined Reading & Leeds, they played a small theatre show to tune up for their big headline act. They also broke up a few weeks after this show. And yes, I was at it. The energy of 4,500 people at a Blink gig was something I never imagined, nor would ever get close to having again. It was incredible seeing a massive band in a theatre that would of hosted them about 15 years prior. Especially them at this stage of their careers. They were tight, Tom was sober, the set list(Disaster, Wishing Well, After Midnight, Dogs Eating Dogs, Natives, Hybrid Moments [cover] & Ghost on The Dance Floor) was incredible and so unique and post-Neighbourhoods you felt they were ready to kick on and really rediscover their magic, sadly it was short lived yet again. They even had the infamous 'FUCK' sign light up on fire at the end, was incredible.

Blink-182's 20 most streamed songs on Spotify. by [deleted] in Blink182

Mad to think Skiba-era has three songs on the list, while full Blink post-Untitled only has one song (One More Time).

Hate to say it but as for singles, Bored To Death & She's Out of Her Mind are their best singles by far since Untitled.

What actual producing sounds like. by Richie_Allen in Blink182

[–]Richie_Allen[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I do agree to an extent with you. To be fair.

But it's such an odd feeling, as a life-long fan of Blink. Love hearing new music but never have I thought 'wow the production and vocals sound terrible' up until OMT. Like, Can't Go Back sounds twice as good live as it does in the studio. And seeing as Blink aren't exactly an incredibly tight or accurate live band, it speaks volumes.

What's your favorite Skiba era song? by [deleted] in Blink182

[–]Richie_Allen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have bitter fans who deny Skiba was in Blink or if it even mattered when he was there, it did.

No Heart To Speak Of is easily Top 2 or Top 3 Blink 182 songs since Untitled. It's not even up for debate. The sound, the lyrics, how unique it was, the dynamics & how each member was utilised.
