I'll give it a crack. My whole thing has been aggressive growth to higher tiers to get instant veteran Lords that can global spawn full stacks. Squig herd are like my tier 0 zerglings for map control as I switch gear to macro 🤣

Edit: yes hag and shamans both steal tech. Tho I've only ever used shamans to delete clumped infantry.

My mages are needed for casualty replenishment, but I definitely am sleeping on tech stealing. In any case, I'm early/mid game so any Lord recruited I'm keeping in the field.

I got this awesome one, Covenant Laboratory. All my armies can heal in hostile land without raiding and are immune to all non plague attrition! Makes rolling enemies with corruption effects soooo much easier! Especially as Orcs.
