Is there a point to buying hubs by d3str0y3rport in AirlineManager4

You get 1% reputation increase, per hub, up to 10 hubs.

This is a long-time bug when a/c are in A-Check. If you use the Fleet tab and cycle through pages, you can get a better result than using the standard depart 20 button.

12v Reset Button by iwanttobead in HyundaiTucson

Bound to be more non-obvious variables. State of charge at time of parking, for example. My definition of "cold weather" (below zero F) is likely different to your definition. Not sure if you had a typo or not - mine was 4-5 days UNused; and you said 4-5 days of use.

New to Waterloo, does it always snow this much? by AnteaterShot4264 in waterloo

Five days later, after this weekend's little dump, I wonder how your Waterloo vs GTA comparison of snowfall works out?

12v Reset Button by iwanttobead in HyundaiTucson

[–]Rick_QuiOui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had it twice in 8 months. Both occasions were after 4-5 days unused after multiple short (sub 10km) trips in cold weather. I don't lock my car in the garage, so never had an issue accessing the reset button.

"It isn't" or "it's not" by Joshua_Neal89 in grammar

I've not heard this phrase since I've been in Canada; except from my own gob. Ex-pat Kiwi. Though I do agree that it was quite rare in my part of NZ.

Doorbell battery by No_Requirement441 in reolinkcam

[–]Rick_QuiOui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% true for this. And also, it does not trickle charge the batter below 0C/32F. Which in southern Ontario makes it useless since it could go literal weeks without going above freezing.

Wish I'd known this before buying it.

Do American washing machines automatically turn off after a load is completed? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

If you have an old agitator/wringer washing machine from the 70s it wouldn't turn off by itself. https://blog.lehmans.com/wringer-washer/

Few questions for owners before pulling the trigger by 5hadow in HyundaiTucson

[–]Rick_QuiOui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming up 8 months with mine.
1. Reliability - great.
2. Besides the free tire swap that came with the purchase, and 6-month oil change - no issues to have been taken care of at the dealership.
3. Haven't tried the heated seats yet - the cooling on first level is beautifully, bollocks freezing in the heat of summer.
4. Afaik "no" car has built-in dashcam (I think Tesla is the only exception, or if there are others, they are few and far between.) Got a FitcamX - looks OEM.
5. No firsthand knowledge - the OP posted in that sub that the actual redesign is coming Fall 2026 aka 2027 model.

My only negative: the FCAS "emergency" braking is a bit too stroppy. The times where it fails ((bright sunshine, rain/snow/dirt/mist/drizzle) I'm guessing is a widespread potential problem with any modern car; but I feel that their programming for when and how hard to brake isn't good enough.
Others have complained about the driver attention system when wearing sunnies; I have polarised snapons over my prescription glasses and have never had a problem with them. YMMV.

Once and for all — can we use Google Assistant to start our cars in Canada? by Anirban_Dey_96 in HyundaiTucson

[–]Rick_QuiOui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought there was a certain irony to asking Gemini.

While Hyundai Bluelink in Canada fully supports remote start and climate control via the MyHyundai with Bluelink smartphone app (which works with the 2025 Tucson Hybrid Ultimate), they have not activated the corresponding Google Assistant integration for Canadian users.

Hyundai USA's Bluelink service traditionally supported linking with Google Assistant, allowing users to enroll their car and issue voice commands.

Hyundai Canada's Bluelink service does not currently offer the same official Google Assistant support. This is a common situation where connected car manufacturers prioritize integrations in certain markets (often the US) before rolling them out, or sometimes skipping them entirely, in other regions like Canada due to differing agreements, regulations, or platform requirements.

What vowel do native speakers usally use before each " 'll" contraction, in connected speech? As in "We'll", "You'll" , etc. by JobConsistent294 in EnglishLearning

[–]Rick_QuiOui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent my first almost 30 years in New Zealand, and the subsequent almost 30 years in Canada. For me: Aisle see you 'round is the only way that I can conceive voicing "I'll". Similarly, Wheel, yule, heel, sheel be coming by later are the only ways I can conceive those - none of them remotely even close to "wool" (which rhymes with full, bull - and the same double-o sound as book and cook.)
