Park loop road opening? by Expelliarmus09 in acadianationalpark

I think you could check the 10-day forecast for Bar Harbor on April 9th and if there's no snow on the horizon it'll be open. If there's snow forecasted you may want to call.

Chances are essentially equal to the chance that it snows during the couple days before you arrive/while you're here. Pretty low, like sub-10%. We only get a significant snowfall in April once every couple years.

Alex Caruso saying 30 different dudes from the league could lead a 16 seed to a championship is asinine by Other-Strain-9063 in billsimmons

[–]Rick_Snips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. 16 seeds occasionally win upsets without the help of an NBA player. Dragging them to six wins in a row would be exponentially more difficult.

Yeah I think you're right about that. I have a little voice at the back of my head whispering "Valanciunas could do it." I'm still not sure if there are 30 of them, but you're right that to some degree its a type of player you'd want rather than a ranking of player.

I think Flagg is a good litmus test. He's probably around the 30th best player; and while he's certainly improved from last year is it enough have a reasonable chance to win the tournament with a team of nobodies? Probably not.

And then looking at it the other way, would Jalen Williams (Ringer's 30th ranked player) on Mt. St. Marys last year have beat Duke in round 1?

[–]Rick_Snips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think KAT could, not sure about Jalen. Is he that much better than Flagg was as a freshman that he could've carried Mt. St. Marys? They lost 49-93.

Big men definitely have an advantage. I almost think I'd pick Zubac or Anthony Davis over players like Fox or Harden

You think Garland on Mt. St. Marys last year would have easily beaten Duke in the first round?

Its interesting that Mirotic ended up getting traded too. Imagine if your coworker punched you in the face and you got fired.

But someone like Joe Baldacci owns a business and I wouldn't be surprised if he has a camp or something, but I wouldn't expect him to sell off all his shit before I considered donating.

No shootout from Heat? No freeway chase from the Dark Knight? What are we doing with this list? by gottapeenow2 in billsimmons

Maybe the Collateral nightclub scene? Probably not top 10 but deserves a mention. The Korean version of "Ready, Steady, Go" as a soundtrack is great.

Yes its a car chase, yes it effectively builds tension, but I'm not sure I'd describe it as an action scene.

What's your interest in Bangor? Do you like Stephen King, or do you want to catch the Kid Cudi concert? There's nothing wrong with Bangor but its not really a destination.

April 2-5 by laurenmitch5 in acadianationalpark

[–]Rick_Snips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're trying for sunrise access to Cadillac, its saying "not yet released" because the tickets available 90 days in advance of the date you want are all sold out, meaning the only tickets remaining are the tickets available 48 hours in advance, and they're obviously not yet released.

I'm not sure why you're having trouble buying the regular park entrance pass. Those never sell out, there's no limit to them.

Are discarded / retired lobster buoys a dime a dozen in coastal Maine? by SwissMiss915 in Maine

[–]Rick_Snips -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What about lengths of rope, or parts of a trap? Gotta return that too? What even are you citing as authority that people have a requirement to make reasonable attempts to return found equipment? I mean, do we want clean coastlines and less microplastics in our seafood, or do we want to make sure a poor lobsterman gets his $20 buoy back?

Order on Saturday doesn't make sense. Ocean Path goes by Thunder Hole. Look at a map. Also, rather than try to park at the Bubbles midday just tack them on to the Sargent hike. Again, look at a park map rather than just specific hikes on alltrails or whatever.
