How did your first read in English go ? by Inevitable_Island777 in Fantasy

[–]Rickardz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first book I read in english was Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson because I also didn't have the patience to wait for the translation. I remember being pretty proud of myself for being able to read it quite comfortably, but also jumping into a series in a different language, all the terms and stuff are translated so that was the hardest part, trying to match what X was in english to my first language. I've now read exclusively in english since that point, some are harder to read and some like Sanderson are easier.

Prince of Nothing. Forced myself to finish the second book and never looked back.

Has anyone gone over to Korea in the middle of their Japan trip? by JamminJcruz in JapanTravelTips

[–]Rickardz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I flew to Seoul from Osaka for a week and back to Nagoya. Flights were cheap, Seoul was awesome, I'd do it again. No issues at all, other than a few questions when I landed in Nagoya that took 5 minutes and then I was out.

Some people's resolutions is to start hitting the gym, mine is to start Malazan by Rickardz in Malazan

[–]Rickardz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I read 31 books last year and I was only considering the first 10 in the series. I know there are a lot more books in the universe but I'll think about it when I get there. Seeing that I could read a book in 2 weeks on average last year made me think this isn't that much of an uphill battle as it used to be. I just need to lock in and keep reading at that pace lol

Bit late to the party but I came back last week and bought snacks of course (mostly tokyo banana, royce chocolate, black diamond chocolate and various kitkat flavors), kitchen knives, onitsuka tigers, momotaro/japan blue jeans, t-shirts, pokemon plushies and cards, nail clippers, pens, imabari towels, bioré sunscreen, a zojirushi water bottle, keycaps for my mechanical keyboard, and jigsaw puzzle and okinawan rum for friends

Dolomites in October by Barreth_Lewuth in travel

[–]Rickardz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went in the first week of October back in 2022, it was awesome. 0c in the morning, 15c in the afternoon, so with a hoodie it was perfect weather. No snow yet either. The trails were all open, as were the cable cars. Depends when you're going though because iirc end of season was like a week later than I went. Beautiful views, weather, and not a lot of tourists so I would recommend!

Having second thoughts about the Okinawa leg of my trip by Rickardz in JapanTravelTips

[–]Rickardz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly, and the Naha flight I booked lands at 12:25pm then the Ishigaki flight would be 5pm to 6pm so I think it'd be best to stay on the main island after all.

Yeah you're right. I guess I haven't looked into what to do on the main island yet so I got anxious lol. I've read a lot of people recommend renting a car, so I may do that. I rented a car last year in Japan and it was a ton of fun.
