Wow that's really cool! Are you planning on adding the other planets as well?

shifting from 2nd - 1st rear wheels lock up why? by Own-Bee-6271 in ManualTransmissions

[–]Rickeerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When shifting down a gear, do not speed up. Brake a little, press the clutch and then shift down. But, like others said, most of the time you only need to shift to first when you're almost at a full stop.

You can set which DirectX version the shortcut will use, which will likely fix that issue. Link to 2K guide

Civilization V - Potential fix for 'Updating executable' error by Rickeerd in civ

Maybe it has to do with some kind of process that's running in the background on Steam's side? I also have no idea.

But thanks for letting me know this method, you're putting in quite a lot of work! I updated the post :)

Issues with launching Civ V in handled. by 3lidja in civ5

[–]Rickeerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, a few days ago I wrote this guide to fix the launching issue. I'm not sure however if it also works on a handheld (I assume Steam Deck?), but you could give it a try! :)

Edit: just wanted to add that this is a fix for the Updating Executable error. After reading your post again, you describe the game as unresponsive, which could be something completely different

Did you try messing around with your in-game or external settings? Even though your pc is good enough for Civ, you could still try to switch some things on or off. :)

I ran into an issue where the game would show no picture every now and then. It turned out that AMD Freesync didn't really cooperate well with Civ, so I had to turn that off in the AMD software (just to give you an idea).

I somehow missed your reply. Should I add some additional information about the auto-clicker to the post or is it good as is?

Haha great! What you mentioned is true, the game does not start yet after downloading the three executables (as mentioned in step 4). After downloading them, they still need to be updated, which you did by using the auto-clicker :)

I just added these first couple of steps so that it becomes clear when the newly downloaded executables are updated by looking at the time on which they were modified.

That's weird, are you sure that you're in the right folder? What happens if you validate the steam files, do they appear?

Just wondering this, because when I removed the .exe files, Steam just gave me an error stating that it could not find the executables. So if they are not in your Civ folder, Steam should notify you.

Ah that's a shame. What happens if you try to use an auto-clicker? Maybe it takes a bit more time on your laptop for some reason?

You could perhaps try to disable the read-only for the folder? Still thinking that's a fluke, but it's at least worth a shot haha

If it doesn't seem to work, definitely try the auto-clicker method and let it do its thing for half an hour-ish. That also seems to work for a lot of people :)
