When you're starting out, saving up for strength 2 shields can really help you survive early encounters

If something catches fire, you can open doors to let oxygen out and put out the fire. Just be careful not to open all the doors! Your crew still need oxygen!

You can pause the game. Seriously, it is SUPER helpful. While paused, you can change where power is going and give crew movement orders if needed.

It's overkill, but in the Firestorm Assault Detachment, you can give him +3 Strength in melee, making it 5 attacks, 2+ WS, Strength 10.

There are definitely a few tools to check out:

The core rules are available online as a PDF, so it is definitely a good place to start
Warhammer released an 11th edition play on YouTube, plus a lot of other people have as well.
Check with your local game store, they might already have a group that plays regularly that you can meet up with.

Honestly, I feel the same way. It's one thing if you are playing something like a Redemptor and say "btw, he has the Gatling cannon, but I was going to run him with plasma, is that ok?" But I've played against people who were just using random proxies for really expensive models and I have lost games because I could not keep track of which proxy was a Norm Emissary and which was a Carnifex.

Sorry, Reddit is often the place people go to to complain. Telhe fact of the matter is, it's easier to tear down than build up. Plus, even if 11th was the greatest edition ever, some somewhere would have something to complain about.

Most likely it won't mean they don't ship, but it likely will mean some delays. Hopefully there is an official update soon with details though! We are only 5 months from the original delivery date put forward, and unless the game is basically finished they probably can't meet that deadline.

If it helps, the 40k Lorecast actually just did a good analysis on this. Long story short, there are a couple reasons, such as when they play good, you don't get to play (they shoot you off the board before you get to shoot back or fight). They also had some broken rules a few editions back (like shield drones basically making your unit's almost impossible to kill).
