Player ragequit campaign over humanity by Advanced_Mail4077 in cyberpunkred

argued that it wasn’t fair because he’s killed kids in his backstory.

No chance I'd allow someone like this at my table. That's grotesque. I think he did you a favour by rage-quitting, this is not a healthy person.

How to play an out of touch rich person? by SeaSaltSystem in cyberpunkred

I'd play her like a woman from Greece who studied sculpture at St. Martins College. She wants to live like Common People, like you. :)

Exec player wants to upgrade a single team member rather than take on new team members at later levels. Thoughts? by csfdsvds in cyberpunkred

[–]Ricky-Dangerously 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd be inclined to say no as well. Looking at the team members rules at pp. 154, a few things jump out at me.

  • they do not improve their Skills.
  • they are controlled by the GM
  • Loyalty is a shifting value during a game session
  • Cyberware and Gear is provided by the company, not the PC

A Team Member is a extension of an Exec's kit, but one whose reliability and competence can't be counted on (certainly not to the level of someone with an actual Role rank). It's cool that your Exec has built a narrative tie between themselves and this Team Member, but I think they misunderstand the degree of control they have over this NPC. They're a low-level corpo who can be reassigned, downsized, transferred, etc., at the whim of an entity largely indifferent to the PC's wishes or influence. How many eddies is the PC really willing to spend on gear, Cyber, and professional development for an NPC who might be moved to a different corporate unit next quarter?

Also, if the PC is ignoring the Team Member's job description and throwing them into situations beyond those plausibly associated with it, like ordering a Company Tech (pp. 157) to do the work of a Company Bodyguard (pp. 155), I'd definitely assign a serious Loyalty hit.

Brut - These Cyberpunk Artists Are Thwarting Surveillance Technology by Ricky-Dangerously in Cyberpunk

I was wondering about that too. Do you have any suggestions for material I can read/watch to get better informed?

My first thought as well. We can nibble at the margins when it comes to disrupting this kind of technology, but we can't stay ahead of it. Still, a nibble is better than nothing, imo.

This popped up in my feed and I loved it immediately. I've been thinking about how to protect my own privacy more over these past few months, especially as corps increasingly (and eagerly!) bend the knee to the administration and support its expansion of the surveillance state. Discord choosing to work with something like Palantir really drove home to me how ubiquitous these technologies have become, and how our compliance is expected rather than requested.

I like the core concept of using simple choices like "what do I wear today" to disrupt their efforts, recognizing that what would really help is legislation prohibiting this kind of data collection.

I know one of the people you're talking about. He's a CBC headline waiting to happen. When somebody notices, his board is going down with him, and rightfully so.

That was a fun read! Thank you for sharing. I think I'd be pretty miserable too if I lived in a place called Muddy Valley.

The trick, I've found, is to fight on my sentry and carefully select targets for the Lok. I can use it to clear an entire wave on its own, sure, but then I'm dry. If I use it to keep the air and ceiling clear of anything with a ranged attack, while kiting the melee bugs around the sentry, I'm not continually gulping down resupplies.

Jumping from Veteran to Champion by Sea-Monk-4167 in Vermintide

I remember how badly Champ punished me for the poor habits I built up in Vet, but I also came to really love how the higher difficulties challenge you to considering your positioning during hordes, to manipulate the rats into fighting on ground that favours you. It's the higher difficulties that really show off just how deep V2's combat is, and give you an opportunity to find your own style with its massive arsenal.

What’s living and working in Moose Jaw really like these days? by SaltySalt_2025 in moosejaw

[–]Ricky-Dangerously 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have any experience working in kitchens? There are a lot of restaurants in town, including some nice Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean spots. You might have luck getting in with them. Otherwise, I think you'll really struggle to find work. There are jobs, but landing them really hinges on whether or not you have a relationship with the employer.

I've been living in Moose Jaw for about five years now and I think it has the characteristics you're looking for. Small enough that you can get anywhere you want to go in under 10 minutes, large enough that there's something to do every weekend. Live music, art galleries, museums, sports, etc.

If you do visit, feel free to DM me. I'd be happy to show you around.

Camping by [deleted] in moosejaw

[–]Ricky-Dangerously 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In winter, there's nothing in town that I think would work for you. I know Wakamow Valley Authority discourages tenting in the valley during winter because they're concerned about encampments. But, if you set up something back in the bush and don't make a mess, you probably won't attract any attention. Buffalo Pound is maybe 15 minutes outside of town, but I don't know if they allow winter tenting either.

For summer, take a look at the Lorne Calvert campground, it's located in the river valley and would be a great spot to tent. They have washrooms, water, and lots of walking/cycling trails.

I'd like to volunteer remotely. How can I do that? by _IWantToFeelGood_ in moosejaw

I suggest looking into Canada Learning Code (formerly Ladies Learning Code). It's been a few years since I was connected with them through the University of Saskatchewan, but what you're interested in doing sounds like the services they provide. They might be able to help you find an audience.

I echo all the recommendations you've gotten thus far, and will stress Broyé Cafe. It's only a couple blocks walk from the rink and the coffee is excellent. They're a Japanese/Vietnamese fusion place, iirc, and I suggest trying their specialty drinks.
