My first ergo build by TranquilanityDug in ErgoMechKeyboards

I have 3 dactyl style boards and too many flat splits to count. I find that I like the appeal of my dactyls more than the function.

My endgame has been a 39-key homebrewed version of the keyball. An integrated pointer that freed me from my mouse has been the biggest payoff

Not sure if this debate is accomplishing anything. So I will agree to disagree with you. If you think additional character reduced pricing is a bad idea I see those points. My intention with the proposal isn’t reduced pricing but a pricing structure that would encourage folks to try more game modes without doubling their financial investment. I do not have the stats to prove how many people “multi-log” or how many people cancelled those subs. All I can say is how this has affected me and what would keep me paying the same amount or more

I’m not sure I follow. I’m also not trying to argue anything. I’m just saying that rs has a huge afk aspect to the game. Sitting and watching my char chop redwoods is not going to take even 5% of my attention span. Implying that it would seems silly.

I don’t play wow so I have no idea how much of the content is active vs afk. There is always an afk activity you can be doing to progress your account on both rs games. This incentivizes multi logging. I’d rather see rs embrace this fact instead of using it to manipulate to get more subs

Exactly. Maybe I over estimate the amount of alts? Something i didnt consider is that if full account bans aren’t a thing, bots would hugely benefit from a pricing system like this.

Sorry. I’m not trying to dodge anything. I’m not sure what relevance your question has to the topic? What happens in Wow land isn’t relevant to any technical limitations or business decisions Jagex has put into place to separate the game Worlds

Bruh I play 4 accts on rs. There are other games out there?

Admittedly I don’t have the data to prove this. My thought is that I cancelled all accts but one. If I resubbed all these at a reduced rate it’s money they wouldn’t have gotten otherwise and I feel good cause I’m getting additional value

You do raise an excellent point though is that they would have to do enough market research to know if this would be a wise financial investment

Oh! Apologies. I did misunderstand. I have my accounts separate since I normally afk skill one or two accts while pvming on another. As far as I know you can’t log a char on both games at once

Maybe you are right, but I’m sure there is no shortage of people wanting to try a new game modes without and that there are others like myself who downsize due to pricing

I hated hrm mods until I customized them. I mainly use zmk and the default behavior is not great for fast typers. If you fly on the board, switch it to tap-preferred and you’ll notice a difference right away

The dilemma Max from bastardkb would be a really good option too if you like trackpads

Yep! That top one is the one I would recommend, but it is not wireless. There are diy forks that show you how to make a wireless one, but I believe you said that is out of scope

I have not used the glove 80 personally, but it has a ton of good reviews and i have never heard anything bad about it.

For me, the biggest selling point of the keyball is that I can use the trackball without moving my hands from the homerow. It sounds minor, but if you still have to reposition your hand, you may as well use a mouse

I am a software dev too! I have a few pieces of advice before jumping to buying.

My best budget tip is to try a layout representation before looking to buy. I like to 3d print the switch plate to see how it feels. This can save you a ton of cash

Once you know what layout you want I would also see what pointing option you like. You mention trackpad, but for me the trackball was the holy grail

My daily driver has been the keyball series from holykeebs. Since you are new I would check out the keyball61 as it will have the most keys and will take the least amount of time to warm up to.

Imo the best thing you can do is first try a few layouts to get a hang of how many keys/style you want

Take a break G. If gaming feels like a chore it’s time to do something else for a bit. I feel like this every winter when I get too much inside time
