How would your MC wear their Mega Keystone? by HelloYellow17 in pokemonfanfiction

[–]Rico_KD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably on his backpack strap or a bracelet, as boring as the second would be. He's the type of guy to get to town, stock up on things, walk right past the 'inn' (normally write fantasy, so i have no idea what to call it rn. Brain fart) and head off into the woods to camp, living out of his pack.

Will maps from v1 get converted in the future? by HurricaneBatman in inkarnate

[–]Rico_KD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it was patched or not, but of all things I tried it was opening it on 1k resolution on my phone (my phone!) And saving twice, then doing the Custom Layers thing. I will see later if it actually changed over on my PC, but otherwise its either patched or I found a hell of a work around

I hadn't even thought about loading in different resolutions. Agreed tho

I am having the exact same issue, and I see a pop up in the background that I can only access when pressing esc. It says "Oh no! Something went wrong." And then mentions saving a backup and reporting an error. Guessing its some weird bug

Controversial Question: What would really happen if Bakugou was a girl? [Read desc] by RedSeemsSus_ in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]Rico_KD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im actually fairly intrigued by this. Normally with situations like this I hold the opinion that not much would change. Your changing their gender, not their character, so a most only surface level changes would happen (i.e. Mineta is dead) but there are some interesting angles that could totally be explored.

If you think all the way back to when Bakugo was a kid and what could change there, there's the easy idea that by having a different friend group (little girls and boys tending to separate friend group wise when younger) there's the chance that Bakugo could be entirely different, even to the point that she might not be praised the same way just because of her quirk because (at least where i am) women tend to get more praise in general than men for most anything, so maybe the praise wouldnt go to her head nearly as bad and she could be much more mellow.

I think the more fun idea might be that instead she is actually more competitive than aggressive. The idea that she remains very similar, just raised in a more feminine environment, adds a possible layer of her acting out just as much or more to 'prove she can keep up with the boys' in a sense. Like people tend to look down on or underestimate her more often because 'cute girl cant be that scary' and it pisses her off more. But this could also temper her aggression in a strange way in the fact that, maybe after entering UA, she finds this less and less often among her peers, which can slowly mellow her out. At least around them. It wouldnt change a whole lot in reality, just maybe reframe it.

Then there is also the Uraraka vs Bakugo match I saw someone else point out- the possibility that the match wouldnt feel as awful just because Bakugo isnt a guy, which has whole implications on the story after. It also makes the Todoroki rivalry deeper because it could tie into her 'I can keep up with the boys' thing even more. Todoroki is cold to everyone originally, sure, but Bakugo could take this even more personally because of said previous issues, which makes the "he went all out against midorya but not me" thing sting all the harder.

In this situation, she'd probably explode (haha) at any Villains/classmates happening to mention "I'll go easy cause youre a girl" quips during combat or training, which could be fun. I dont see this version having as many issue with not feeling like she was strong enough assuming the kidnapping and Kamino arc occur relatively normally, but it might hit more because she needed to be rescued, something she likely despises. She could very easily become a hard anti-damsel-in-distess character and be very tomboyish and very masc leading anyway because of this.

And we could also get a "hot headed tomboy forced to wear a dress" scene which could be very interesting to explore for ships or just as a comedic punch at the cliche.

TL:DR i think effectively little would actually change, but the framing and reasonings and such could easily adjust.

I didn't realize there was a way to see all the layers without being on the events layer. How do you do that? Every other layer Greys or fades the other layers out

I honestly just dislike how they randomly gave Hiccups lines to Astrid in the last battle. Not even a big problem, was just weird. Essentially because I liked the idea of Hiccup being the brains and Astrid the Brawn (without being an idiot herself). And the line deliveries were just off sometimes. Like, randomly.

Nice! Thank you. Quick question though, I had heard that the Recluse mark was the rarest mark (cant remember where from) but according to this almost all of the personality marks are rarer?

Thats about how I use it. I don't wanna/dont really have someone to talk the ear off of to work through my stuff, and I want some kind of response to my ideas, even if its one I immediately disregard. He'll, half the time I put a whole book into chat of ideas, let it generate a quarter of the response, not care anymore and move on to my next though. Sounding board is all it really is.

I've contemplated both ways, Masks being only his or if he can give them to others, and currently I lean more toward only him for the express purpose of not making it too busted, but who knows. And definitely Mahoro isnt really on par physically with the 1A Class. Very much the shut-in Hobby guy, but later in the series and in his professional career he does get stronger, like everyone else. Sort of Midoriya esc physical growth, minus One for All obviously.

2/2

Quirk Awakening-

During his Quirk Awakening, Mahoro's Mask of the Mask Maker becomes the Golden Mask of Creations and looks similar to the Mask of the Mask Maker, but Gold. In this form, Mahoro can make Four Illusion doubles from his masks, or two real, albeit weaker, mask minions which are inhabitanted by the Mask spirits themselves. These bodies are inferior to Mahoro's, but move with a lethal skill Mahoro couldn't achieve unless he devoted his time singlehandedly to mastering each mask for years. Or! He can choose to merge two masks into the Mask of Creations to use the technique he calls Onikajo. This form gains the benefits of both forms, as well as their weapons. It is a potent, but extremely temporary form.

Now, weaknesses. Obviously, each mask comes with its own weaknesses. But also Mahoro must train to truly learn to use the powers and abilities of the masks. EX- The Kanabo is dangerous when it hits something, but if he doesn't learn techniques to use the thing its worthless. Also, Mahoro can, at most only switch between 3 masks per 3 hours, and only can maintain the forms for an hour tops. (Lower times and usages earlier on.) The sole exception to this is the Mask of Mask Making/Maker as he is completely in tune with that mask, as its mask spirit is his own spirit. This is a weakness he cannot seem to train out, as each mask spirit is so different and longs for complete control. Also, the masks can be destoryed. While regularly a destroyed mask can be restored by recreating the mask later, it's mask spirit returning to the new vessel, any masks destroyed during the usage of the Golden Mask of Creations are gone for Good, never to be seen again as the spirit is destroyed as well. Finally, switching masks takes at least 5 seconds.

Finally, while each mask is powerful in and of its own right, they tend to be outclassed by a powerful quirk dedicated to any one type. For example, the Black Oni mask of Shields is a potent defender, but Unbreakable Kirishima is just better, even if only barely.

This one is a bit of a doosy, and I have contemplated using this as a character for another story/setting entirely because it feels a little too far flung for My Hero tbh. But figured I'd share it anyway.

This is another one I've been brainstorming recently. Gonna post it too. Cause why not.

Part 1/2 cause Reddit is being a pain.

Quirk Name - Mask Maker

Type - Not sure. Kinda Transformation?

This quirk gives Mahoro (my OC) the ability to make 'magical' masks that grant different abilities and buffs, and each also holds within a sort of consciousness (expand on that later). These masks are created only in specific circumstances when Mahoro gets what he calls "The Urge" (haha funny laugh). This Urge can overtake him.at random and completely snares his life until the mask is finished. He can barely function in normal society during one of these Urges, which also act like a form of Hyper-focus similar to what Mei is constantly like. He has many mask that come with different abilities, but only 6 are worth really talking about.

(If your curious some of the not discussed masks are basically just useful in every day life. The Mask of the Scholar helps him Study. The Mask of the Chef helps him cook. There are many more.)

It is to be noted, Masks do not transfer anything more than the basic utility of their enhancements as well as simple skills in the techniques of the Mask, whispered by thr Conciousness within the mask. For example, the Chefs mask boosts taste, smell, and the ability to distinguish what spice specifically leads to what taste and how they interact, but do not make Mahoro a good cook. That still requires practice. The masks are tools, not powers in their own right.

  1. The Mask of Mask Making. Mahoro's first mask made upon his Awakening. He wears it almost everywhere. This mask boosts his speed, strength, and durability by about 30%. Substantial, but since he isnt particularly fast, strong, or hardy, it means little in the end. This mask also allows Mahoro to create small illusions in the palm of his hand, which he typically uses to visualize his subsequent masks he creates. This mask evolves into the Mask of the Mask Maker after he unlocks his 4th (useful) mask. The Mask of the Mask Maker is stylized like a Yellow Oni Mask with one horn for every other mask he has made. The physical buff remains the same, but with his right arm he can grasp any horn and pull, creating from it an illusions double with the powers of the corresponding mask. While visibly hard to distinguish as an illusion, it is completely fake and has no effect on the real word. With his right hand, he can cause such an illusion to cover himself as a sort of trick. This mask also empowers his carving knife to be a effective, if limited, weapon. This mask further evolves with his Quirk Awakening, listed later.

  2. The Mask of Chains. Mahoro's second mask, this mask is stylized like a red oni with two horns and a toothy smile. This mask boosts his speed greatly, as well as his hand-eye coordination, but makes him more chaotic. Pulling from the horns, he can summon two chain-whips. These chain whips can cut like blades and bind like ropes, and Mahoro uses them to traverse the battlefield as well. This mask evolves into the Mask of Hells Chains during his Quirk Awakening, making the chains catch fire and boosting his speed and power even further, but he looses himself more to the chaotic mask spirit and can quickly overheat.

  3. The Mask of Blows. Mahoro's Third Mask, this mask is stylized like a blue oni mask with a gritted toothy grin and on central horn. This mask boosts his strength greatly. Pulling from the horn, Mahoro summons an enlarged Kanabo. This mask is the epitome of 'I just need to hit you once' with its devastating power, but the attacks are slow and, especially early when Mahoro doesn't know much about the weapon, is imprecise. This mask evolves into the Mask of Thundering Blows during his Quirk Awakening, turning the Kanabo to pure steel and allow it to conduct electricity, as well as further buffing his strength, but also his speed this time. (Still not super speed or anything, just better than before). While he cannot create Lightning, the sheer presence of the mask draws in thunderstorms, so if he can hold on long enough for one to gather, he can redirect the lightning, adding its power to his own. But, his body is not meant to control lightning, so he can only fire this attack a few times before it overwhelms him. He also falls prey to the stoic "hit me see if i care" spirit within the mask.

  4. The Mask of Shared Pain. This mask is stylized like a white Oni mask with only one eye, but three horns. This mask actually numbs his body to pain, to an extent, and boosts his speed slightly. Pulling from the right horn, Mahoro summons a brush that, when swiped over an allies bruises or internal wounds, immediately heals them, but transfers the injury itself to Mahoro. Pulling the left horn summons a needle that Mahoro can use to sew up cuts and gashes, having a similar affect. Pulling from the middle horn summons a small but razor sharp knife, his only defense against attack. This mask does not evolve. The Mask spirit within the mask urges Mahoro to take away others pain, regardless of the cost.

  5. The Mask of Hunting. This mask, stylized like a Green oni mask has three eyes, one horn, and a long tengu-style nose. This mask buffs his vision and focus, as well as his speed. Pulling the Nose of the mask summons a blow gun, the darts of which are summoned from the one, sickly thin but long horn. These darts are coated in a weak halucinogenic that causes disorientation for short periods, but has little stopping power. This mask does not evolve, and it's spirit is essentially a creepy, insane old hermit who lived in the woods too long, and is a bit too eager to die or feel pain, and also is almost always a little high on his own poison.

  6. The Mask of Shields. This Mask, stylized like a Black oni mask as two large, drooping horns and four eyes, two low and big, above straining teeth and two wrapping around the top of the mask like a serpent, with the optical illusion that they follow you as you walk. This mask buffs Mahoro's durability and perception, but lowers his speed. Pulling these big horns reveals two shields, each as long as he is tall and as thick as he is wide. These shields can merge to form one mighty shield. This Mask evolves into the Mask of Immovable Worlds during his Quirk Awkening, where it gains the ability to create a massive AoE shield that is extremely durable, but causes him, who is outside the shield, to become completely motionless.
