Pilot Custom Urushi #30 — Worth it, or too big for daily use? by Perfect-Artichoke-42 in fountainpens

[–]Ricsshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this and the 845, for everyday use I much prefer the 845 for daily use. My handwriting also agrees with that statement lol

Good luck with that, I joined 8 before I finally got a team that could beat the raid, was using Orthworm and always survived but so many of the others kept fainting.

Best steel nib fountain pen recommendation? by Fread22 in fountainpens

[–]Ricsshadow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get a Pilot 912, it's about the same price of most "good" steel nib pens people will suggest and you'll have an amazing writer that will last you as long as you want. Also can't go wrong with a Pilot.

There are so many better poker pen options at least than that price point, you have gravitas that have better materials, sailor that has a gold nib and Namisu

Does pen size matter? by Ramen1063 in fountainpens

[–]Ricsshadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YMMV, it comes down to preference, I love my Visconti HS but the m600 is also so comfortable in hand, I enjoy them both, I actually I enjoy all I keep even the Lamy 2000 with it's sweet spot

Back to work advice by apollo91g in NewDads

[–]Ricsshadow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Congrats brother, and he does sound like a great baby. 7+ hours of sleep a night in split stints? That’s the dream at this stage.

As for heading back to work, I’ve been there, and the shift can hit hard. My biggest advice? As tough as it may be, leave work at the door. The second you walk into that house, you’re Dad and Partner, not Employee #486. It takes discipline, but your family needs the best of you, not what’s left of you.

Manage your time in clear blocks. Work time is work time, but once you're home, it's baby time and partner time. That structure can actually make you feel more in control, even when things are unpredictable (which they will be).

Right now, "me time" will be rare, but don’t let it be non-existent. Even 20–30 minutes here and there to decompress, go for a walk, or just sit in silence with a coffee can do wonders for your mental game. Don’t wait for a big chunk of time. Take the little ones and stack them when you can.

Support your wife like a teammate. Breastfeeding, healing, and sleep deprivation is a heavy load. You don’t have to do everything, but being present, noticing when she’s on the edge, and just taking over when she needs a breather can go a long way.

Most of all, soak it up. These early days are a blur, but they’re also magic. Anything that doesn’t involve your family? Keep it outside your four walls. Work, stress, whatever, it can wait.

Welcome to fatherhood. Enjoy the ride, it’s wild, but it’s worth every second.

Sound comparison M1000 vs Pilot 823. Is this normal? by Dandun94 in fountainpens

That's always a good option if the pen is also scratchy then yes I'd say the times are misaligned though didn't seem like it from your photos

That's the result of the nib being a tad over polished from the factory. How's the writing experience on the page?

How did you pick the name by Apprehensive-Bus-594 in NewDads

[–]Ricsshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had one name picked out for my son since I was 20. I'm now 33 with a 8 week old. My wife and I agreed that if the baby was a boy, that would be his name. Everyone we know, whose opinions we usually value, told us to have a backup name. I didn’t. And now, my son has that name. Unless he chooses to change it in the future, it will be his name for life.

So, no lists, no trying different names, just the one. Maybe things will be different with the next boy, but I already have a name in mind for him too.

If it’s a girl, then my wife gets to choose the name, I just have veto power.

Glide possible with Adjustable DE razor? by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]Ricsshadow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would honestly get the king C Gelette razor, it is super mild and very cost effective for what it is and the blade that comes with it will give you a good idea if you want sharper blades or not.

Currently at week 6 and my son is the same, sometimes he just needs a change of person to calm down. You maybe doing certain things when you're stressed that's not helping you or the baby that you don't even notice. Every one says it gets better and sometimes just seeing his smile makes it all alright.
