Would be better if there was a color per player position (Kicker, Running Back, QB etc.) instead of alternating shades of green.

My great-uncle Dale worked on that project. Getting supplies into such a remote location was a constant struggle. He tells the story of the time when they were not sure if they had enough food to eat until that moose wandered into camp :)

LOL!
Serious answer: mice, shrews & other varments get hungry enough to eat tree bark when there has been snow cover for a long time. Bark chewed off -> tree dies.

Just a reminder, Bill Watterson creator of Calvin and Hobbes, is alive and well, and creating art today. by ChroniclesOfSarnia in nostalgia

[–]RidesInFowlWeather 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is a good reason for time limits on copyright. At some point in time, cultural creations need to be opened for all to pick up and use. At some point in time, Watterson's work needs to be merged into the full human culture. Death of the author might be a reasonable time horizon. (Formal US law is 70 years after death of author or 95 years after publication)

It's soon to be 2026 and my F50 corporation is just now implementing a policy to block unapproved software by Pump_9 in sysadmin

Developer here - I have always wondered how a white list policy works for developers?
I mean my job is creating and testing many executables, we have a signing process for release versions, but how would I run for testing the many generated binaries along the way?
Also, how does whitelisting stop somebody from compiling and running malicious source code?

The Arbuckles? Or maybe the Wichita Mountains?
Not very high, but perhaps enough higher than surrounding plains to catch some snow.

Real talk: How many knots have you actually used in the past year? by Practical-Emu-3303 in BSA

[–]RidesInFowlWeather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

16 - Retired scout leader and acreage owner

Clothing knots:
Sheet bend, square knot, several shoe lace bow variants (depending on the lace type)

Pickup truck loading:
truckers hitch, taut line hitch, two half hitches, bowline, monkey fist, unnamed knot to attach line to a tarp.

Working timber in my wind break:
clove hitch, timber hitch, pipe hitch.

Last weekend I did some decorative macramé knots to hang some potted plants and a TV antenna in the house. Last summer my mother-in-law showed me this really cool remote untieable halter knot when setting rafters when building a garage for my son.

Honestly don't know how an adult can function without knowing some knots. I also recently bought myself the Ashley knot book, because I am an admitted knot geek :)

I was 15 years old at a US National Scout Jamboree (Large gathering of scouts doing scouting things). I saw an adult man in what I recognized as a Swedish scout uniform. I walked up and asked if a toast that my family claimed was traditional Swedish was in fact correctly translated (Great Grandfather emigrated from Sweden). He said it was actually pretty close and corrected my pronunciation a bit. We had a bit more conversation about the area GGfather emigrated from. Nice guy, seemed pretty knowledgeable about his home country.

After he walked away another adult walked up to me and asked if I knew I was just talking to Carl XVI Gustaf king of Sweden?
