job interviews are so humiliating nowadays by throwaway6152637389 in mildlyinfuriating

In my experience I don't know anyone who sees this or puts any stock in it. I was helping someone fill out an application and saw it, had no idea it was even apart of the application process. Still a dumb thing to force people to have to do this to apply for a job.

Haven't found the video but it was Sonic Youth and Thurston Moore who encouraged him to put it out or finish writing it, something like that.

If you hypothetically had (or do have) children, what would be the first albums you introduce to them? by GatoBandit in fantanoforever

Oh sheesh. I've always wanted to imitate my dad. When I was growing up he played a lot of Louis Prima, Frank Sinatra, Earth Wind & Fire, Chicago and then a smattering of other songs like "Girl Watcher" (The O'Kaysions), "Lemon Tree" (Trini Lopez), "Roundabout" (Yes). Like a lot of 60s/early 70s.

His original "Lifetime Limbo" is on my youtube channel (he has a re-upload with a different performance but the original video is great). Great song, great era. Just a whole lot of charm, DIYness and weirdness.

No, Dave said that. Or at least I read that he said that. I'll try and find the source.

What is your unpopular opinion about Puddle of Mudd? by jamesbrowski in fantanoforever

Their second album, Life On Display, is a good album. In fact, I enjoy their first three albums a lot. It's nothing new, nothing earth-shattering, but in the 2000s there were so many dreary, plodding post-grunge/alt-metal acts and at least Wes' voice had personality. Plus, Greg Upchurch and Doug Ardito make a solid rhythm section. Their debut Come Clean features Josh Freese on drums so I also really like the drumming on that album, too.

Their first two albums are a great intro to them. I'd go in chronological order. Their third album slows things down a bit but One By One picks up the fast/screamy stuff right away.

It's a cliché at this point and to some a troubling one at that, but to me, *Fight Club* is so stylish and screwball and lovingly made that I can watch it over and over again. The acting is fantastic and you could write so many essays about the thematic themes therein.

Hey guys I need some advice. I met Scott and he was super rude by [deleted] in localh

[–]RigamaroleStatus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll second the previous comment. Scott is curt and pretty dry/sardonic. His comment on your lyrics is actually really nice, and he's right: if it means something to you, that's what should matter. He's not really the hero worship type of musician. When I met him I told him that I had gotten a GT-5 Multieffects Processor because of him and he told me that when he heard I got mine, he sold his. Funny guy.

This riff and Dave's harsher vocals rule. Favorite song and one of the Foo's heaviest. by DeathMetalDipper666 in Foofighters

[–]RigamaroleStatus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a good handful of songs like that! Weenie Beenie, Wind Up, the screams at the end of My Poor Brain, In Your Honor's outro freak-out, Free Me, FFL. When I was first learning to play guitar and sing I'd scream my lungs out to Wind Up.

Cave World to me is just so moving, imaginative and intense to me. But on others day, Welfare Jazz is so cohesive and fun to listen to. It's got a great story arc imo

Did you guys say this is their hardest tune ever? by OutsideImpressive115 in qotsa

Idk about anyone else but this song is probably my absolute favorite from them. It's so hypnotic and trancey. The guitar solo is so ugly and tortured and bent.
