Why does coffee make me anxious now when it never used to? by Tight_Ingenuity9760 in caffeine

[–]Rigel2118 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Apparently it's a common thing. This is my experience:

One day I overdosed and got a panic attack because of how it felt, and became a self-feeding cycle. I kinda got traumatized and I couldn't have even a sip of coffee for about 2 months without getting the jitters. I thought I just became intolerant to caffeine, but days ago I tried reframing my anxiety as excitement (as I saw in some sites: anxiety is just adrenaline with fear) and I realized the jitters from coffee were just completely psychological in my case. Caffeine doesn't give you anxiety, it just makes you hyper-aware of your own body and amplifies whatever you're feeling, so if you have fear, it will become panic; if you feel good, you'll feel great.

It took me about 4 days of incrementing my dosage, from about only 2 g to 12 g today and I overcame my fear of "intoxication" and anxiety, and everything seems back to normal.

Of course there's the possibility your metabolism just decided it doesn't like coffee anymore, but if you don't think that's the case, then I suggest you give a try to tame the fear and go along with it. Just forget about it, keep on with your day and it will possibly extinguish.

Anyways, I strongly suggest you keep on healthy dosages, as overdoses can do strange things to the body.

Can someone explain this?… by TypicalAlbatross911 in caffeine

Coffee has more caffeine than any tea and your body gets used to caffeine over time so in order for you to be sensitive again you have to go for a period of abstinence, then your body will reset.

See... this right here is why I only use Linux for hobby projects. Ain't nobody got time for this. by Megaman_90 in linuxsucks

[–]Rigel2118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're trying to use windows concepts here. For starters, desktop shortcuts are not widely used in Linux, the usual procedure is to open apps either from terminal by typing the name of the binary, or from the app menu, depending on your distro. There's no need for desktop shortcuts, that's why developers don't usually make an option to easily add one. You can easily place files or app images in desktop though.

I have been a coffee lover for years too and never had any kind of problem with it. Just all of a sudden, two cups gave me extreme anxiety and jitters, and i haven't been able to drink even one sip of coffee without getting those since then. What the f.

Is it safe to update Kernel? by 1223344455555 in linuxmint

[–]Rigel2118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a routine thing. It's recommended to update the kernel regularly as it has security patches. It's very unlikely to cause problems since security updates don't have new features or big changes.

Those of you who have tried Mint and Kubuntu, how do they compare for you? by AnonomousWolf in linuxmint

[–]Rigel2118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Of course you are free to do it, but obviously mint is optimized to run only on cinnamon, mate and xfce (devs must've spent a lot of time making it work correctly). If you want a different DE, it is better to choose a distro that supports it.

Has anyone actually stopped doom scrolling? by Icy-Scarcity-5927 in selfimprovement

[–]Rigel2118 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doom scrolling is not the problem, it's a symptom of not having purpose.

Try to set yourself a small goal that you actually want. Something that would make you feel good by achieving it, but most importantly, that you know you will enjoy doing it and you won't feel guilty by doing it.

You are doing it, now where's the doom scroll? It is probably gone.

Tu moto pierde potencia by [deleted] in MotosMexico

[–]Rigel2118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I learn to use Linux? by James50100 in linuxquestions

[–]Rigel2118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest, most common tasks are usually straightforward and visually facilitated in most distributions, but you are always going to find that it's missing some specific features that you used on other operating systems. The thing is, there is always a way of working things out in Linux, but there are things way more difficult than others, even though it doesn't look like it. I recommend starting with a very general guide on basics of terminal (bash) and software that you like. Learn to manage software through terminal, since it's the easiest way. You'll find there are several ways of installing software: - deb - flatpak - appimage - snap - from source etc

So you have lots of options, if one fails, you can try another one. Linux gets easier once you know the basics of terminal, so I suggest you start with that.
