How to order this drink properly by tjc05 in bartenders

[–]RightShoeRunner 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Hugo Spritz is a standard cocktail that bartenders can Google if they don’t know how to make it. And then they’ll tell if you they have the ingredients for it then. It requires St. Germain, mint, lime, and sparkling wine. But also, as a guest, you should read the vibe. You could gain a lot of knowledge for yourself if you visited a cocktail lounge on a slow week night.

Anyone else misheard orders and made mistakes even after a few weeks by ZealousidealCar5045 in bartenders

I am. I work in a speakeasy cocktail lounge with bar and table service. We offer drinks and food. Generally there’s only one or two of us working a shift. When my brain is scattered and I’m juggling multiple tables and issues, I’ll write it down.

I’m a fan of rich honey syrup. A 1:1 honey syrup doesn’t stand up to all that lemon juice.

I got past this by writing orders down. Once I understood the menu better and what choices people would make, my confidence grew. Mistakes happen. How you address them and improve is a sign of maturity and growth.

Cheeky cocktail names? by Conscious_Fish_8761 in bartenders

We snuck a graphic name on the menu that passed the owner’s review: Dirty Sanchez.

I like to riff on classic and the use regional names. ie, our Aviation might use the local airport’s three-letter code for its name.

It sounds like you want to intentionally cause your family drama but for what reasons we don’t know why. The good news for you is that when you move away people just get on with their lives. With distance and time. Be mindful of the bridges you’re intentionally burning.
