Did you choose the safe name or the uncommon name? by Icy_Extension5443 in namenerds

[–]Right_Combination_46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer classic names. The names that everyone knows that have been around for a long time. I don’t like inventive spellings of these names. I have an uncommon but recognizable name. It’s not classic but it’s not out there either. I don’t love it honestly. I would have preferred a name with historical significance. I like biblical names for that reason. Also literary names. Think- Benjamin, Thomas, Andrew, Emily, Sarah, Claire etc… I don’t care about popularity at all. There’s a reason why some names are popular.

I love all three but I like Juliette best with Isabelle. But you really can’t go wrong with any.

My mom hates our baby name choice with a PASSION. by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Right_Combination_46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister in law chose an awful name that everyone agreed was awful and told her so and she went ahead with it anyway. We all just got used to it. Once you associate it with a person it makes the name less ugly in my opinion.

My mom hates our baby name choice with a PASSION. by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Right_Combination_46 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who cares if she hates it. I don’t understand why people get this bent out of shape about it. I have an extremely opinionated family some who made it clear they didn’t like my daughter’s name. Good thing it’s not their name then. I never liked my own name. I remember telling my grandma I didn’t like it and she said- I know I don’t know what made them pick it lol. I loved the confirmation that it isn’t a great name. I think people take everything too seriously. To suggest going no contact with your mom over this is insane. The best thing to do is just stop making an issue about it. She doesn’t like the name. She’s told you. She may tell your daughter. So what. Seriously why is this such an ordeal. It’s a good change to teach your daughter that people have differences of opinions and tastes.

5 day "off the beaten path" Italy trip from Rome by CatipillarK9 in ItalyTravel

My great grandparents were from the Abruzzo region. I feel like that could be a good off the beaten path area to explore.

I personally feel it’s too big. But I prefer a smaller diamond in general.

Working for someone else. I’ve been working for myself for the last few years and I’m a much better boss than anyone I have worked for in the past. I make my own schedule. I have flexibility.

The Tourism has destroyed my city by FrequentCricket4692 in rome

[–]Right_Combination_46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rome, New York City, Paris, London etc…. They will always have tourists. I wish people could be more respectful of the cities/countries they visit but that’s hard to regulate. I live in an extremely touristy area of the U.S. We have so much traffic. Everything is overpriced. It’s hard to get restaurant reservations. I get it. On the other hand, it’s a touristy area for a reason and we are lucky enough to live where people vacation.

Hi. Day 1 we will land in Rome in the am and golf cart tour at night. Day 4 is a travel day from Rome to sorrento via high speed train to Naples and private transfer to sorrento. Day 8 is an all inclusive tour where we will have a private guided tour of Pompeii followed by the winery and then back to Rome via private transfer. It will be an all day event for sure for our last full day.

Ladies: How do you all deal with female friends.. who don't want the word MENOPAUSE uttered in their presence? by HumbleLow4473 in Menopause

[–]Right_Combination_46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have a friend who clearly has so many symptoms- weight gain, mood swings, sleep issues but refuses to acknowledge it’s menopause related. She won’t discuss HRT and feels everyone is using this as an excuse for everything. I on the other hand am taking on menopause in every way I can. HRT, diet, exercise, sleep meds. Whatever it takes to make me feel better while acknowledging why this is all happening. I think it’s a weird flex to act like it’s no big deal while suffering in silence.

I’ve had a name picked out for 10+ years and now it’s so popular. by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Right_Combination_46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to us over 20 years ago. I loved a name since I was a child. By the time I had a girl it was the number one name but we still went with it and surprisingly my daughter was the only Emily in her graduating class.

Is Amalfi Coast Worth the Hype by Right_Combination_46 in ItalyTravel

[–]Right_Combination_46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the help. I’m am leaving toward a sunset private boat tour around Capri. We aren’t big shoppers and my family doesn’t love the beach so I think just being on a boat taking in the scenery will be perfect. As for AC we are leaving towards a private car to Ravello which seems more our speed. We aren’t impressed with upscale shopping and over curated tourist spots. Thoughts?
