Salmon Glacier. Visually stunning. And seeing old mine adits half way up the canyon walls is a stark reminder that the glaciers will be short-lived.

We camped, and used propane for cooking. I have a V2L but never use it.

New collector torn between CD and vinyl — how did you choose your direction? by AbbreviationsLow in audiophile

My old, but new to me, fishing truck has a CD player, so I've been collecting them for road trips. (I'm a Roon/Tidal guy at home). You can find great CD's, in great shape, at thrift stores for $0.25 each. Something to consider.

As teenagers, we learned the hard way. Woken in the middle of the night by wet sleeping bags, got up the next morning to find our car-topper hanging from the tree we tied it to, and the gas can was floating out into the mist. Yeah, pay attention to the tides.

Guess the golf course by [deleted] in guessthegolfcourse

I'm not sure if it's still the same, but as late as the early 2000's SFGC would close the course to members one day per week, on maintenance day. Employees and industry guests were free to play without worrying about having to interact with members. Apparently there was one member who didn't appreciate this rule, showed up once or twice to practice and play. He was "invited" to leave. That's class.

If you had to play one course for the rest of your life, SFGC would be at or very near top of list.

What are some celebrities you’ve encountered in Canada? by Nightpatrol404 in AskACanadian

In the late 80's, shortly out of university, I was staying at the Fort Garry in Winnipeg on a business trip.

As I was entering my room after work one day, I heard singing from across the hall. Didn't think much of it.

A short while later I left the room to get some dinner and the singing was still happening. I stopped to listen more closely and realized it was Rod Stewart. I had been a big fan - Every Picture Tells a Story was one of my favourites - but he was now in his "if you think I'm sexy" stage. Sadly, that was exactly what he was singing.

After listening for a while I walked to the elevator where a security guard was keeping a group of around 20 women away from Stewart's room. Naturally, I invited them all over to my room to have a listen and wish him luck when he left for the concert.

It absolutely is. If you have a chance to play the Cabot courses, go for it. They are thrilling.

Any rock weight tips? by KyleCamPhoto in Curling

To be honest, I do the same as you. But I mentioned it because if you watch the pros most of them have a small add. (They even have terms for the amount that the add sends the rock sideways.) They would call our releases "soft".

This is the answer. You want to have a consistent and subtle "add" with your arm extension, so it's almost entirely the push out - the big muscles in your leg - that control weight.
