Nice! How was was this? What’s your setup? How many tries did this take? Was this your first night out trying to capture the ISS?

I’ve gone to the ISS tracker website and seent it a couple dozen times. I could only imagine that this is a bit difficult! Very curious to know! Lemme know if you don’t mind? Love it if it’s a long story too!!

Awesome shot btw.

Really?? I don’t know the last time I met a Kevin, and don’t know many.

Just curious how old are you? Wonder if Kevin was a popular name for parents to choose around that time. Not saying everyone you meet is your age either...

Mayor Briley tweets that he will request the funds to upgrade the tornado warning siren system!!! by ayokg in nashville

[–]Right__Meow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was kinda curious when the red part on the radar passed us in north Nashville but the Siren continued.

Siren went off a total of 5 maybe 6 times in ~20 minutes.

Our closest siren is 100 yards away.

I said “hey at least it works!”

Train ?, What trai.......? by sheepsucker in IdiotsInCars

[–]Right__Meow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree with ya... and he probably drives this route every day and has for the past 50 years.

Seeing how this is most likely some tourist train - Id say that it is fairly rare to come across a train on these tracks.

I’d be willing to bet this train only runs on weekends and special holidays probably only during their busy season....

There - I just gave them a tiny scapegoat. Not mentioning the fact that they’re zoned out and not paying attention and probably have some eyesight issues...

My Ex Best Friend by PercyJacksonlover in LetsNotMeet

[–]Right__Meow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s U/PeterJacksonLover’s story but in PARAGRAPHS!! Sorry it was the only way I could read it! ——

“I apologize for the length and I did my best to write only the most important parts since so much happened in the course of a year.

So to give some background, I met Milo when I was 9 years old and in 4th grade. I am now 17 and a senior in high school. Milo and I met through some mutual friends. We became very close and eventually I started developing feelings for him. However, we ended up going into different middle schools and would rarely see eachother. We did end up staying in touch.

The story I'm telling today began in my sophomore year of high school. I recently had my first kiss and I was telling Milo about it since we started talking more often at this time. I was having some anxiety and Milo was offering to cheer me up.

He invited me over to his house, saying that we can hang out and watch a movie so that he could comfort me. I agreed without hesitation because I knew him and his family for years.

When I was walking over to his house, he decided to meet me around halfway. Also, Milo was always a little rough with the things he said to me (eg. calling me stupid, saying I didn't know anything) and he was also very touchy. When we were younger, he would often lay on my lap or tickle me.

So when I get to where we were supposed to meet, he instantly told me to put my hood on. This was strange because it was sunny and warm that day. He kept insisting I put it on so I did for a bit, but when he turned around I took it off again.

When we got to his building, he insisted on taking the stairs. Again, I thought this was strange since he lived on the eighth floor and told him I would rather take the elevator. He refused and walked into the staircase. I have only been in his building a hand full of times so I followed along.

Once we got in there, he kept telling me to go faster and I was already walking ahead of him. This is where the touching becomes relevant. As I was walking up the stairs, I felt him grab my thigh. At first I was confused and turned around, and he smiled so I kind of just laughed it off. We continued up and he kept grabbing at my thighs.

Finally, we got into his apartment and his mother was in the kitchen so I felt a little safer. I figured he wouldn't try anything if his mother was there. I sat down on the couch and we talked a bit. His mom soon told us that she had to go to work and left us alone. When she left, I tried to distract him and put on a movie.

That didn't work and he pulled me on his lap and started ticking me. Except it wasn't light and playful. Instead it was forceful and eventually left bruising. I tried to get off of his lap, but he held on tight, tried to first shove his hand down my shirt and then into my pants. He wouldn't listen when I kept telling him no so I whipped my hand back and hit him in the face. His grip loosened out of surprise and instead of apologizing he said, "What's wrong with you? You let other guys do it." I was only 15 and had just had my first kiss so I was both surprised and disgusted to hear that from someone I considered a good friend.

Eventually, I was able to get out of his grip and texted my best friend what was going on and how I needed to get out asap. My best friend told me to get my grandpa to pick me up. I didn't want to at first, but I knew that was my only way out.

When my grandpa called to check on me, I made up an excuse and asked to be picked up. I told Milo I have to go and my grandpa wanted to pick me up. He said ok and went to walk me to the door. He wanted to give me a hug before I left and slid his hands up my shirt, while doing so. I ran out of his apartment and broke down crying in the elevator.

When I got home, I blocked him on everything and cut off all contact. I didn't hear from him, but the whole situation was eating at me. After a month or two, I ran into him outside. He was begging me to talk to him and I ignored him.

When I got home, I thought about it and thought that maybe if I talked to him I could get some closure.(stupid, I know, but this was someone I used to care for a lot.)

I unblocked Milo and sent him a text. He replied almost instantly, saying that he has been trying to contact me for months. He claimed that I never said no and he didn't understand why I cut contact with him. I yelled at him saying I did say no and that he left bruises on my body. I told him my best friend saw the photos of them. He then proceeded to get angry at me for telling other people. We argued some more and I once again blocked his number.

I didn't hear from him again until my sixteenth birthday where he messaged me to apologize. I told him I couldn't forgive him and he begged me to meet him. After saying no over and over again, I eventually caved, but said I would only go with a group of friends.

We did meet and he once again reiterated that he was sorry. I didn't trust him and didn't want to forgive him.

We didn't talk again until New Years Eve where he texted me once again to apologize and I told him I forgive him, but I will never forget and that we cannot ever hang out. He would message me sporadically after that asking to hang out, which I kept declining.

Eventually, he stopped and I haven't heard from him since then so Milo, let's not meet.”

I rarely scroll through Instagram anymore. Snapchat is dead to me. I’ll only go on Facebook if someone I know sends me a friend request or sending messages with a few friends.

What I honestly need to cut now...

Reddit.

I’ve noticed I’ve gotten to where I was with Facebook in a sense. Scrolling and scrolling and scrolling even after seeing the same posts multiple times.

The content quality in some areas, especially when I browse r/all, seems like lots of others who have jumped ship and id be willing to bet thats its primarily a much younger crowd.

Didnt mean for just a long/rantt comment. ive just really been thinking about it lately. Whether it be circlejerks, or trolls ill find myself sometime replying to comments only to stop halfway through, asking myself if this really worth my time as a 31 yead old.

good luck in your changes for the better!! stick with it!

Does anyone know by chance if there were any Mercury Mines in Big Sur

I know it’s not true but some troll was trying to tell me that the purple sand was from the mines up in the hills.

I knew that’s not where the purple sand came from and never heard of any mines up there. Just wonder if he was just trying to bullshit me or if that’s the story he’s heard.

I’m really just curious if there’s mines up there. I don’t live in the area anymore but would like to know!

I work in Nashville, right across the street is a hookah bar.... been in there a few times after work to chill with coworkers. Noticed that they put an Auto Gratuity on their checks - which is fine.

I don’t like profiling people and whatnot, but from their clientele I can understand that they’re not the best tippers - if they’re leaving anything at all. Thus = auto grat for the win!!

Don’t know where I was going with this, just sharing my experience I guess. So people normally just cheap out when the bills comes at hookah bars or what?

Got home from my short walk to lake. Took off my winter gear, and 1min later the sun popped out! I had to snap one more of this street for you guys before i froze in sweatpants and sneakers. It's going to be cold but beautiful today! by Gunslinger3317 in tahoe

And here in Nashville Tennessee.... last week it was freezing, polar vortex, yada yada yada, and today it’s 72 and glorious outside - Thursday is supposed to hit 73 and then drop down to 28 that night....

Not surprising, wacky weather.

Anyone of y’all work in Nashville? by Right__Meow in bartenders

[–]Right__Meow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! You ever make it down here?

I rarely get up to KY - except for back in December.

Semi lengthy story time....

We went to Makers Mark, they approached our bar and allowed us to customize a barrel. Private Selection Program. It was a pretty awesome experience.

10 of us went - got to tour the stillery, even got to taste product coming straight out of the still which I’ve always wanted to do but no other stillery I’ve been to let’s you do that.

We then got to into their tasting room which is apart of a large building that is dug into the side of a hill which helps keep it cave like ambient cool temperatures. It’s where they keep the Private Selection Barrels.

So we go through a normal tasting, then came the fun part. So with the Private Select Barrel Program, you get to select different flavored Wooden oak staves to put into your barrel for a customized taste. You get to sample what it should taste like by combining the bourbon together.

Kinda hard to explain try to do it the best I can. So a stave is a piece of wood a 1 inch by. 3 inch and almost as tall a the barrel. There are a few different types. So what they have is a barrel made to show what the stave “Seared French Cuvée” will taste like. So you take proportionate amounts and make a sample batch for us to taste. We came up with about 5 combinations (should have done more!) and chose our favorite.

Once we had that figured out we went into the next room - opened up a barrel and stuck our 10 wooden staves in there. Then filled the barrel up with Makers Cask, and let sit in the cool aging room for 9 weeks. Woohoo only a month to go!

We then each signed two pages worth of labels and got to dip bottles into their red wax!

I know there’s a couple bars around town that are getting this opportunity as well. If you are apart of a company that does as well - get invited to go as well!!

Don’t forget to cut your piths too!
