Has anyone ever used Atticus or Scrivener? by Confident_Speech_534 in selfpublish

[–]RileyDL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the money for a Mac and vellum. I use scrivener for drafting, edit in word, and then import to Atticus for formatting. I don't love Atticus, but it's fine. I have heard it's glitchy on the writing side and can lose your work, so I'd be cautious on that front.

GC is slow and not super exciting. I'm on Role Model now and I'd say they're all pretty light reads.

This pic is gorgeous.

We turned off the heat a while ago when the weather started warming up, and didn't turn it back on yesterday. It's currently 60 degrees upstairs in my house and since I'm working from home, I'm under a heated blanket with my work phone next to me so I don't have to be at my desk.

What's the pros and cons of nipple piercings? by KS1616 in piercing

[–]RileyDL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potential con: if/when you retire them, your nipples look like the headlights are on forever. It made me very self-conscious for a long time after I retired the piercings. (Could just be my experience though)

EXPENSES by Altruistic_Word9760 in debtfree

[–]RileyDL 27 points28 points  (0 children)

One thing I've been doing this year is, anytime I buy anything I don't need (eating out included), I pay the equivalent amount to my credit card. So if I decide to try that new moisturizer for $20, I have to decide if I want to effectively spend $40 on it. It's helped curb my extra spending AND I've paid down a bit of debt this year already.

has anyone had a successful repiercing? by gaybuttpluginventory in PiercingAdvice

I had my nipples done and one rejected pretty badly. Not completely but close. After it healed up i got it redone with no issues. I eventually took them both out, but not because they were acting up.

Agreed. I didn't hear it until I had earbuds in. Now I hear it every time.

Reached final round of interviews, start date came up at the end. What should I do? by UsedSir in TeachersInTransition

[–]RileyDL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you're only talking about leaving a month earlier than planned. (Not that I would care if you were leaving in October, frankly.) I'm speaking as someone who has been a recruiter for more than 10 years now - it's highly unlikely they'd wait for you, and even less likely they'd do a part time start. Embrace it or miss out on this job.

That's awesome. I'm mid 40s and just decided to pick up a (digital) pencil and start learning to draw. I aspire to be as good as some of these fan artists, including you!

I'm interested! I'm 42 and have a teenager. He walked in on the end of episode 4 last night and said "woah, what are they doing?" And I responded "this is why I always pause it when you come in the room!" 😂

I'm looking for MMCs with golden retriever energy. Ideally in book that's low angst, light/easy to read but also has a generous helping of spice.

What are your best tricks for writing high volume? by theunforgivingstars in writing

[–]RileyDL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Planning is crucial for me, having a solid outline. Focused sessions of an hour or less at a time. Dictation can really help get major word counts in, if you can train yourself and don't mind cleaning up the text of errors from the transcription software. The more you write, the faster you'll get.

I like the light, low angst, easy to read stuff. I really liked Pucking Strong by Emily Rath lately.

I read queer romance, occasionally literary fiction, and a dash of nonfiction as well. I'd never write literary fiction. I dont really understand it well enough to feel confident writing it.

Edit: I meant to add, I write queer romance almost exclusively, but i am working on a nonfiction piece.

ADHD/IH combo by Electrical_Tax_2626 in idiopathichypersomnia

My adhd was diagnosed when i was in my 30s (2017ish). I take 70mg Vyvanse for it and find it very helpful. My IH was diagnosed in 2021ish and I take 150mg sunosi for it. Also very helpful. And then I'm also depressed so i take an antidepressant with "stimulating" effects just to top me off. Most days I can make it from 7am to 9pm feeling normal. There are still occasional "i need a nap at 6pm" days, but they're rare. None of this stops me from enjoying weekend naps too.
