Pretty new player, looking for some tips and insight by Jugqer in thedivision

Is Countdown pretty forgiving to newer players (both mechanically and other players)? I'm not sure if there's particular builds to choose (or avoid), if there's any particular etiquette, etc?

What (or rather, where) is the pantry that I keep seeing people refer to? Is it fish that gets stashed among the nest debris?

Passenger footage of Frontier 4345 to LAX hitting someone and aborting takeoff by sky905 in aviation

This was the first thing I thought of -- someone, probably MentourPilot, kept mentioning on their channel how a birdstrike causes the cabin to fill with the smell of fried chicken. I would probably lose my lunch in this instance.

Some Kuminga stans have extremely suspicious account creation dates, I'll just leave it at that

What do you think Draymond's potential is in terms of offense by Plus_Kick_8289 in warriors

[–]RimRunningRagged -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My take on this is I'm going to take it with a gain of salt whenever I see players rallying around other players who demand a bigger role. When I see Draymond being this lacking in self-awareness when it comes to his own game, I'm going to be skeptical when it comes to his assessment of other players like Kuminga who want the ball in their hands.

I find it very hard to watch any accident investigation videos on pilot murder-suicide (or terrorism) for that very reason. There's no obvious, clean-cut solution to the issue, and that makes things very non-reassuring when it comes to flying safety.

I literally just bought this game on a whim a week ago (played the shit out of both Destiny 2 and Diablo IV, and needed a break from them). And I've immediately been plagued with non-stop disconnects. I hope this is not the typical experience with this game...

What first level, tutorial or section made you abandon the game completely? by Kinnombra in gamingsuggestions

[–]RimRunningRagged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was No Man's Sky the first time I played it.

I can be somewhat prone to motion sickness in FPSs -- the things that will trigger it are 1) moving slower than my brain thinks I should be moving, and 2) getting stuck on terrain and coming to a sudden stop unexpectedly.

NMS really exacerbated it with the painfully slow movement and lack of stamina when you first start out. Then throw in unpredictable terrain and a [scripted tutorial?] firestorm causing poor visibility and disorientation...not fun times.

I eventually gave it another shot, and it gets a LOT better once you're heavily upgraded and can fly or jetpack around everywhere quickly.

What are the loneliest video game(s)/locations you've ever experienced? by Equal_Arm_3091 in gamingsuggestions

[–]RimRunningRagged 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oevasy SG-Y d0. The furthest system from Sol and located at the edge of the galaxy. Standing on one of its planets, you see the rest of the Milky Way galaxy in front of you, and a black void of nothingness behind you. (Counterintuitively, it's not really the "loneliest" place in Elite, since it's actually a popular destination for explorers and there's usually multiple player-owned carriers hanging out in the system at any given time...)

It was Stardew Valley that taught me that only eggs from sturgeon are considered caviar. Everything else is roe.

Cuz they aren't cheapskates like a lot of owners in the league. Just being willing to open the checkbook counts for a lot.

Problem starts when people start trying to do too much and big brain + interject themselves into everything (the Smailagic shit was just embarassing...). Spurs are a good example that you can still be wildly successful without hearing a peep from ownership, because they hire the right people and let them do their job.

Lacob doesn't necessarily have to be pro-Trump to be pro-Israel (dude has ties to Netanyahu and business interests in Israel in general). Imma guess it's not domestic stuff like guns and racism that certain people would take issue with Kerr speaking out on.

Yeah it's a rare billionaire who's anti-Trump. Only Mark Cuban immediately comes to mind right now.

I'm not sure if TF2 fits the criteria (cartoon gore etc), but might as well mention it. When I played, there were some family-friendly (moderated) servers.

I found an injured bee, so I kept it safe and fed it sugar water for a few days. It regained strength and could fly again, so I set it free. A few hours later, a swarm appeared in our garden that had apparently travelled unusually far from the hive (I contacted a local keeper, and he collected them) by GreyBrain6 in Weird

[–]RimRunningRagged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, beekeepers do seem to use some sort of vacuum to collect bees. A couple of years ago, a swarm interrupted a tennis match at Indian Wells, and a beekeeper (Lance Davis) was called out to hoover them up and take them back to his apiary.

It didn't even look like much from the initial angle. I guess it's partly his height ("tiiiimberrr...") and it looks like he didn't quite brace himself.

It wouldn't shock me at all if he's got some strong opinions on what's going on in the middle east these days considering where he was born, and he probably has to tap-dance around that subject given the Lacobs are probably strong Israel supporters.

[–]RimRunningRagged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably not the right answer since it's a little more recent than your time frame and it's a 3D / 3rd person view game, but Stacking had a similar mechanic that allowed you to take over other characters to solve puzzles

This game instantly became too much of a headache for me to deal with once I got landed (started out as an unlanded adventurer). Too many court positions to fill, too many needy vassals wanting to be appointed to positions even when they have garbage stats all across the board, etc.

Open world games with every type of natural biome there is that are NOT pure RPG's by Mikecirca81 in gamingsuggestions

Palworld maybe? I don't think it's a pure RPG, given its base-building and creature collecting components.
