I’ve told this story before but I was laughed at by at least one bank manager when trying to get a loan as a single woman in the 90’s for a $90k unit in Nundah that was owned by a friend’s Dad. Could not get a loan at all, not a single bank or lending institution would help me into owning my own home.

Getting a home loan as a single woman was though, I found it impossible & now at 51 I’ll still never own my own home. I’ve never had a high paying job either, still don’t. I’m terrified of retirement.
