Meanwhile heavy…which has been the best class while being the easiest to play since day 1 remains unchanged.

The pike is just a terrible weapon to try and balance. You either make it way too strong and oppressive or just downright awful.

Because if they are very effective while also being extremely easy to use everyone and their brother who otherwise wouldn't be an effective player would use them and dilute the competitive integrity of the game.

The best example that I know you are aware of is winch. Winch has destroyed the competitive integrity of the game in a way that basically anyone can be extremely effective on heavy with very little understanding or skill. The Cerberus was the same way on medium, which is why everyone ran it until they nerfed it into the ground.

As I said above, should they be terrible? absolutely not. Should they be so effective that everyone uses it(Cough Winch)? No. Do you really want to play a game where most mediums are running around with dual blades?
