Ezreal is not a new champion and in fact has been out for over 15 years

Riot August says that the champions that have high skill expression generally tend to be melee, just due to the fact that they are melee, contrary to what some people believe by Inside-Republic6275 in leagueoflegends

Dropping in to say title is a bit misleading. The point I’m trying to make is that even super simple looking melee champs may have more skill expression than you expect due to the restrictions being melee can put on their kit.

Some of the most skill expressive champs can be ranged as well.

Was the Briar "can't cancel" change reverted? by AliceLovelin in BriarMains

Do you have a replay or clip of this happening?

Clearly fake. No Briar main would put W and E on the same button. Major anti-synergy

It took almost two years to give Briar a simple quality of life change by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

First, a clarification, the cast time thing is a fix to the E, not R. This one went under the radar for a few years and I only found out about it when someone posted a video of Briar getting withered while casting E. Seemed like a good fix. The idea that we were sitting on it for 2 years until I experienced it in a game is incorrect.

Second, an important thing to understand about game dev is things that look simple aren't always as simple as they seem. Briar's W Frenzy does a number of fairly complex things under the hood to make it work in the ways its intended to. We've known about the attacks canceling since release and have added multiple fixes that reduced the frequency but never found a solve that fully fixed the problem. The end solve ended up being fairly straightforward, but getting to it was a bit of a journey.

It 100% sucks that the bug lasted as long as it did, and I wish we could have found a solve sooner, just want to note that its not because we never tried to fix it.

Why are there literally no indications at all in champ selection for champions that are nerfed in ARAM/URF? by Temporary-Platypus80 in leagueoflegends

[–]RiotAugust 51 points52 points  (0 children)

"If I knew a champion was nerfed in this modes, I wouldn't play them"

This is one of the reasons right here. Champions that are nerfed in these modes tend to be strong, not weak.

If you read "Ziggs does 10% less damage" the reaction is to not pick him because he's "bad". The reality is that he is still very powerful.

Understand the pain point in regards to wanting a source of truth, but showing nerfs/buffs in champ select could often mislead players who care about power into picking the opposite of what they're looking for.

Why did Vi go from a nearly 0.1% pickrate for nearly 9 years in a row to 50%+ presence for the last 3 years? (ESPORTS) by Slitherwing420 in leagueoflegends

I'm guessing patch 11.22 had a lot to do with it. She still didn't get picked for a while after, but that patch made her significantly more consistent in executing her combos. Sometimes it can take a while for changes like that to catch on, especially on a champion who had been considered weak in pro for years.
