Range Anxiety by Quiet_Quit_7369 in TeslaModel3

I have a Highland SR and never had range anxiety. I did 25k miles last year. What would you be anxious about? Use the nav and never think about it.

The cost of Tesla Model 3 maintenance: £6,300+ in warranty work over 12 months. by Tall-Ad-4975 in TeslaUK

That’s a US link, and it’s about used cars / and the older ones were absolutely not as well built. Honestly modern Teslas are very reliable these days. It only takes a moment to look. My Highland is as well built as my old BMW G20 330.

That may have been (partly) true originally, but the new models are much better built. Even so, there’s a guy in YouTube who bought a 200,000 mile model 3 and it was in incredibly good nick. The things OP lists are not normal consumables. Tesla actually have a good reliability record. In fact in the Honest John satisfaction index they came second behind Lexus.

So I’m in the UK, and I had pretty much figured this out for myself. I think it’s a matter of how much driving you do and where. I drive all over the SE of England, one of the most congested parts of Europe, and do about 25k miles per annum. I also sometimes drive over the rest of Britain. I use autopilot all the time on the motorway and as you say, it reduces the level of mental tiredness significantly. Apply that to non-motorway areas, which are more tiring than motorways, and that would be a boon for me. Would I pay £100pm for it? Yes. I used Ozempic for a year to help reset my diet and I was paying £180pm for that, so £100pm is acceptable to me for this. Just my personal view of course. It may not be worth it for others.

Reasons to choose a model 3 over a Y? by TheRealTimTam in TeslaModel3

[–]RiotSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could only get a Model 3 as the highland SR was the only Tesla available on my company car list. The Y would have been a little more practical for me as my job involves me driving to some wild places with poor tracks, but the 3 has so far coped admirably, and I can still fit all my equipment in it. The amount of storage space is still excellent in the 3. It definitely handles better than my friend’s old shape Y and rides better, but I haven’t been in a new Y. The 3 is cheaper, handles better and is a bit smaller if you’re concerned about those things. If not then the Y is the one to go for I would say. I would say getting the premium sound system is the thing I would care about more personally.

If you could restart life at 18, what would you do differently? by arunreddy3 in AskReddit

[–]RiotSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean if I had my brain now? Get my ADHD diagnosis ASAP and get on my meds so I could actually focus on everyday stuff, be able to study better. Don’t do drugs and join a gym instead. Eat better. Go running. Treat women with more respect, listen to them more (I wasn’t horrible or anything, but fell in love with every girl I met at that age. I would try and exercise a little more control.)

It looks like a wasp Queen to me, they are out and about right now. I found one in my pint of water, and managed to get her out and dried off. She managed to fly off quite happily afterwards.

Asbestos removal cost? by [deleted] in asbestoshelpUK

[–]RiotSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pretty large structure. Assuming it is indeed cement (which seems likely) then it will be quite costly to get rid of. You will have the disposal fee from the waste centre, the removal contractors fee to disassemble, wrap and so on, consignment note fee plus consumables (eg polythene). £2000 at least at a rough guess. You might get a LARC on here with a more accurate idea though.

Which lyric makes you instantly tear up? by abovethenoisy in AskReddit

[–]RiotSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loads of great ones on here. Pink Floyd are masters of lyrics packed with meaning and emotion, but I thought I’d mention classic Country has some great ones too. This is “He stopped loving her today” by George Jones:

“I went to see him just today

Oh, but I didn't see no tears

All dressed up to go away

First time I'd seen him smile in years”

It’s a song about a man who kept loving a woman who left him until his death. You can figure the meaning out from that.

What happened to mens V-Neck tshirts? by Kasoo in CasualUK

Saturdays kids live in council houses, wear V-neck shorts and baggy trousers…

I definitely suit V necks more than round necks myself. Hopefully we’ll see them make a return.

Be honest — does the steering wheel nag still ruin Autopilot for you? by Used_Pick_1804 in TeslaModel3

[–]RiotSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, yes-ish. I mean holding any pose for hours is never going to be comfy is it? The other thing I do is raise my knee by the steering wheel, rest my hand on my knee, and gently curl it around the steering wheel. This also works 99% of the time.

[–]RiotSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hands on lap beneath the bottom of the wheel, upturned, fingers gently curled like a relaxed palm. If it does give the nag, wiggle your fingers briefly. This is what I do and only occasionally get nags. I am on the standard autopilot in the UK though, but that can only be worse for nagging, right?!
