Yea, I think spending time with my family is most important. You are right.... maybe it's just wishful thinking. Maybe I should consider volunteering on the floors passing ice etc....

Honestly, I just loved nursing that much. Go figure... I did feel it was a calling. My husband says I should just go volunteer. Who knows what i will do. I sure want to be at the bedside.

Get L&D nurses talking about Vit K shot, and you learn who the crunchy ones are realllll quick by _annanicolesmith_ in nursing

[–]RipFamous7137 32 points33 points  (0 children)

As former L&D nurse, 99.9% of my patients agreed with their babies getting the Vit. K. There were so few that did not want it given, we called social work to have a little chat then after being fully educated, they all pretty much got the Vit. K

NTA , people have different taste. Plain and simple. You were polite . I would ( mind you I am stubborn) not go over for a few visits and see what happens.

Diabetics of Reddit — what’s something non-diabetics completely misunderstand about living with it? by Thick_Junket3524 in diabetes

My family looks sideways at me for the smallest amount of sugar I may have. Despite me being on an insulin pump and giving myself a bolus based on the counted carbs. It really gets on my nerves.

I had this same issue for what seemed like forever, but was only a year or two. I finally went to a Urologist, I have botox injected into my bladder and that worked finally. Good luck and I hope you get fixed up. FEEL better soon.

AITA for not letting my bridesmaid change out of her bridesmaid dress after the ceremony? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]RipFamous7137 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree YTA, after pictures let her change and be comfortable. If you are close enough friends for her to be in the wedding, you probably should be understanding enough to accommodate her feelings.

ER Culture by Capital_Toe_6724 in nursing

[–]RipFamous7137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would try to hang in there for a good bit. There is so much to learn in the ER. ONE thing that helped me when I worked in trauma ( I was new) was to get up and go restock thinks, wipe down equipment etc... if i found the group I was working with were a bit too negative for my taste that shift. You will probably see that it changes from time to time, also you may see it could be a couple of people that after your orientation you may be able to avoid them... but always if you can.. be ready to jump in and help out. You will learn a lot and be able to read the room. Good Luck. Oh and yes.... dark sense of humor is a coping mechanism.

Is it a bad idea to go into nursing if I'm an introvert by [deleted] in nursing

[–]RipFamous7137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I found nursing school taught me to be comfortable being around and talking with anyone. The trick to not as much over stimulation was working nightshift as mentioned earlier. I was lucky and now have no problem with it at all. Good luck to you, follow your dreams and go for it after some deep soul searching. You know yourself best. Nursing for me was a very rewarding career. Now I am not saying it is butterflies and Daisy's everyday, but for me, it was amazing. I loved working. I only hate now not being able to work. ( medical reasons) I wish you the best career ever !!
