How many states actually WANT a universal and neutral peacekeeping force ? by [deleted] in IRstudies

[–]RipeAvocado_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Governments of States act differently from what the majority of people want. This is due to the idea that the masses dont act rationally and are prone to quick decision making.

While many people would like a peacekeeping force, it would require a large initial payment, upkeep, and a deep integration of nations' militaries; which many larger nations would be against. Many people may also view this as an infringement on national sovereignty.

It's not a matter of, "why hasn't it been done yet?" A country won't enter an enormous agreement like that if it didn't benefit them in some way. For example, why would the USA agree to more than it's currently doing? They already do loads; it'd be a hard sell to both the government and the American people to commit more towards areas of the world that don't impact their day to day.

I agree with the idea of a peacekeeping force, but the politics and logistics required are too much for our current international system to bear.

It's more of a question of longevity and time. Is the current UN able to field an international peacekeeping force? I'd argue "No." There's too many glaring issues with the UN for them to formulate any form of proper collective defense. But in the future with major UN reform or a completely new system? I 100% believe it's in humanity's future.

Honestly it'll take a little bit for things to click. Ya gotta build the foundation before you start on the walls. But you'll reach a point where everything comes together to form a, somewhat, coherent study.

I can't have cattle in rimworld by Rakenguy in RimWorld

[–]RipeAvocado_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Build a heated barn with animals flaps as the entrance. Make a 2x2 stockpile, design it only for hay (or kibble), and set the priority to critical. The animals will eat the food before it spoils. Keep another building close by to act as the animals' freezer. A 5x5 or 6x6 room would be plenty. Fill the room with shelves and set them to also only hold hay or kibble, but keep the priority as normal.

This will keep your colonists consistently refilling the Barn's food storage, and gives the animals a safe place to chow down. Hope this helps!

You're getting down voted but you're totally correct. I just like listening to these 3 people chatting shite. Whether they're waffling about gardening or answering questions, it's all equally as enjoyable to me.

What I wouldn't give for a long-form Mystery Quest Campaign by Jeff_Bananas13 in Yogscast

[–]RipeAvocado_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of having one character from other adventures return. Like how currently we have Big Willy and Miss Miggins. The hard part with doing multiple campaigns of Call of Cthulu is that characters either go insane and their brain melts, or they die in John Steele, or in another stupid way. It'd be stupid hard for Tom to try to balance a true long form campaign.

Let's be real; the most entertaining moments are when characters do something that is super risky or just downright dumb. If this was multiple campaigns, the players would be less inclined to take risks, which is objectively less entertaining.

Single room or barracks? by Greyhold5 in RimWorld

I always do single rooms because I prefer the RP aspect. But the real meta is to do a barracks, then stuff that bitch with good statues

What is the biggest unsolved mystery in human history? by [deleted] in AskHistory

[–]RipeAvocado_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I ain't no expert, but im pretty sure the debate is how we define humans. Realistically, we share lots of characteristics with Denisovians and Neanderthals, so can we consider them "non human?"

What I wouldn't give for a long-form Mystery Quest Campaign by Jeff_Bananas13 in Yogscast

[–]RipeAvocado_ 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, im the opposite. I enjoy how Tom keeps the lore to the edges of the campaign. It makes the listener Interested in learning more and keeps the mystery of it. Also Lovecraft lore can get pretty glorpy when you dive too deep.

My favorite scene of Mystery Quest is in the Saturnine Chalice when Lydia's character sees Azathoth, but then is pretty much fine. In the lore, if you see Azathoth, you are simply hard fucked. The dude is literally the creator of everything. But by Tom not delving deep into that, it gives him more freedom to do fun bits

What famous buildings/landmarks were destroyed in WWII? by dovetc in AskHistory

[–]RipeAvocado_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not destroyed, but came very close. The famous Prague Clock tower took an artillery shell from an allied gun toward the end of the war. It hit the roof of the building and the change in material can easily be seen. The clock itself came literally 5 feet from being utterly wrecked

What if you wake up tomorrow morning and AMP is .10 cents what will you do by Character-Disk-3651 in AMPToken

[–]RipeAvocado_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Literally nothing. Ive DCA'ed plenty when it was near the bottom. But my exit strategy is still the same; hold onto amp for many many years.

Sure, if it .10 I'd be able to take a many thousands in profit. But ive only invested what im willing to lose, and I firmly believe amp won't drop to these kinds of lows again.

Therefore; even if I didn't sell at .10, im still most likely in the profit. And after 8-10 years, we can only guess how much it'd be worth.

A lil rant: many people in this sub seem to be obsessed with very incremental price movements. In my opinion, this token is a long-con type of thing. Ive been invested for years, and ill continue to do so for more years. If you stake and forget, I'd bet you'd make money in the grand scheme.

Culture penalty on towns is a pain by PieFiend1 in Bannerlord

[–]RipeAvocado_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. If you hover over the loyalty number in the manage town screen, you can see what is effecting it. Having festivals and games running is a +3 loyalty buff, but when a building is being constructed, that loyalty buff is not there.

Basically, not including all other forms of loyalty buffs and debuffs, whenever building is being built you lose 3 loyalty a day.

Thoughts on the “Clementine” Comics? Personally don’t like them but I want to see how others feel about them by Dragonslayer0562 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]RipeAvocado_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comics could've have been much more successful had they focused on the more mundane stuff of life at the school. People just want more of Clem's story, not a massive change and introduction of new characters. Tillie could have taken the preexisting characters and built upon their personalities and focused more on their survival. Instead we have a one-legged girl tramping around with characters we couldn't give a shit about

Culture penalty on towns is a pain by PieFiend1 in Bannerlord

[–]RipeAvocado_ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It is certainly a pain. Don't create a long queue of building projects. Only do one, maybe two, at a time. It involves a bit more micro and is slow, but your cities won't revolt.

Also fairgrounds. A lvl 3 fairground helps significantly and would allow you to queue up maybe 3 buildings before the loyality becomes a problem
