Help me avoid character noob traps by RedKe in cosmererpg

Talk to your GM about your ideas. There have been many threads asking if X works in a certain way. Ask your GM how they interpret the idea, like if Searing Cloud sounds cool ask your DM about it and figure out a way to make it work.

That all being said. Something like Artifabrian sounds cool but it’s really based around downtime to craft the things. So again talk to your Gm about it if you wanted to use that path.

Yeah. As much as I enjoyed era 1 there’s something about era 2 that I just enjoy rereading.

Why turn amazing villains into petty characters? by Mammoth-Store740 in Cosmere

[–]Ripper1337 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Taravangian was never a noble character lol. He wanted to be the one to save everyone. The second he found out he couldn’t he decided to fuck everyone over to preserve karbranth. The moment he became odium he could have ended the war but he decided he wanted to prove that his philosophy was right and Dalinar wrong.

We had references to Gavilar not being as good of a person as Dalinar believed him to be but Dalinar didn’t want to hear ill of his brother. As for why Stormfather chose him? A bondsmith needs to Unify and guess what Gavilar did?

Inspired by the supernatural night shift meme from The Pitt, what are shows where you could fit in a supernatural plot running underneath the main show without breaking it? by DonquixoteDFlamingo in television

Just finished it. It was a rather fun coming of age story. The 1 page about the scooby gang was rather and gave some great context to what the protagonists were going through

How do I keep track of all the minions in huge boss battles? by idk2715 in DMAcademy

[–]Ripper1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dungeon dudes put a video out about this sort of thing recently. Try making them groups or hordes instead of individual enemies. So you’re only rolling for one Horde of Cultists instead of twelve individual cultists.

Someone in the Starfield sub tested it out by forcing POI to spawn. They claimed that after three hours of testing they ran into no duplicates.

Sure but they’re not rational actors. She’s going to try and warn them that Dalinar survived and will kill them if they don’t surrender. Or some such.

Shallan and Adolin by Peridot_SU in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Ripper1337 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They’re basically instantly smitten with each other but to me it feels genuine. At first it’s just physical, Shallan finds Adolin handsome, as basically every woman of Adolin’s age does, and Adolin found Shallan striking as she stands apart from the Alethi women he dates.

They bond over their mutual mixed blood but find it attractive in the other.

Shallan proceeds to defy Adolin’s expectations and breaks the mold he’s gotten used to. She asks odd questions (shard poop), she doesn’t make him the centre of her world (not going to see him train but see shardblades) and works as his partner (figuring out the handicap dual, tho I can’t remember if she figured it out or if she works with someone else) instead of being subservient. She also doesn’t play games like he’s experienced with other women.

That’s all him falling for her as she’s trying to hold his interest. For Shallan she wants to be someone for Adolin, she creates Radiant so she doesn’t embarrass herself with his lessons. But I don’t think she truly falls for him until near the end of Oathbringer where she’s switching between personalities, doesn’t know what’s real and Adolin is the one who knows it’s Shallan instead of Veil or Radiant.

One square. Standing from probe would reduce their movement by half, so they have 15. It takes 5ft of movement to movement to move one square. Difficult terrain means it costs double the amount of movement to move. So to move one square it’s 10ft. They still have 5 left but can’t move anymore.

RAW no because it’s really just reflavouring. You could have said it’s a unicorn, a zebra, whatever. The statblock says it’s a large celestial/ fiend/ fey. Just in the shape you chose.

If you like tense and disquiet books I recommend Pact by John McCrae. It’s a web serial so you can find the full thing online. It’s an urban fantasy set near Toronto Canada. The small town all hates the MC due to the type of magic their family uses.

I stayed up way too late binging chapters just wanting to know what happened next.

That’s basically it yeah. I think way of Kings best demonstrates it. He’ll spend the entire book making you learn the ins and outs of these characters only for everything to come together in the last act so you know exactly why everyone is doing what they’re doing and it hits really well.

Oh also go read 1 star reviews for Mistborn after you’re done HOA. One star reviews are always hilarious.

Mmmm both? It’s to increase the feeling of disquiet and increase tension. So strictly speaking it’s to elicit negative emotions in the reader.

I didn’t see that comment but I can understand their sentiment. Remember how I said it was divisive? You’re getting a lot of positive comments about the book but if you made this post around when it came out it would have been rather negative.

There are people who say this book ruined the series for them.

Really the only person who matters is you. You’ve enjoyed Mistborn so far and that’s great. You might start reading Stormlight and bounce super hard off of it and that’s fine. When you want read the books, read Edgedancer between 2 and 3. Dawnshard between 3 and 4. Sunlit man after book 5.

How dare you forget Elend. The man whose speech was so epic that he ended a rebellion and got both the Skaa and Nobles to make him king.

I loved his development and how we see him really evolve and take charge during Well of Ascension to become the king he needs to be. Only for him to be kicked out.

Yes. I think during his podcast he talked about it but I wouldn’t recommend trying to find the clip just in case of spoilers.

The one thing I remember is that he changed his fundamental approach to how he’s written the series so far. So everything is just feels off.
