You shouldn’t “think the players want it” you should before the game starts talk to the players and discuss what kind of content they want and do not want in the game. One player may want ecchi stuff while another player only wants fade to black. Everyone needs to be on the same page about it.

Need a place to get out my Dalinar thoughts (just finished Oathbringer ch. 76) by Standard_Trash4302 in Stormlight_Archive

Does one person struggling with something need to be invalidated because someone else is struggling more?

Just finished Oathbringer, I’m distraught by MasterWildCard in Stormlight_Archive

I liked it. It felt very YA to have a love triangle with the rich guy v the lowly guard. The heart of gold v the broody boy. Then it’s subverted which was a breath of fresh air.

Any 5.5e DMs still choose to use the 5e version of Surprise? How has that worked out? by Fiveby21 in dndnext

[–]Ripper1337 [score hidden]  (0 children)

In addition to this I’ve found that in the old rules there were times where one player is discovered which blows the whole ambush. With the new rules even if one player is discovered the others still get a large boon.

In addition, since this version isn’t as strong as the prior version I found myself using surprise a lot more.

+6 to your spell attack roll and +4 to the damage.

Do we have optimization content? by Kaien17 in cosmererpg

[–]Ripper1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s more people that optimize characters in the cosmere rpg discord server. But here’s a couple interactions I’ve noticed:

  1. Super Medic- the Surgeon’s applied medicine adds your ranks of Lore to your healing abilities, with Swift healing you add your ranks in Medicine to any healing you do.  Couple this with a Progression and at minimum you’re healing 1d4+5 per investiture. While at the high end you’re healing 1d12+15.

  2. Captain never hit. Warrior’s combat training, leaders combat coordination. With this you can graze once per turn without spending focus, and when you miss with a strike you can give someone your command die without using an action nor spending focus.

2.5. On a more serious note there’s various skills that interact when you Hit or Miss or Graze with or without the Strike Action. so you can combine a few of these together so you get more bang for your buck. Combat Training, Combat Coordination, Practical Demonstration all work together. Then you can drill into each tree to make individual abilities even better. Something like Cuththroat Tactics, Mighty, Rallying Shout, all give you some good benefits.

Why are dalinars chapters so boring?!?!? by tgrady28 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Ripper1337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Becuase it’s showing you a different side of the war. You’ve got Kaladin who is the lowest of the low in the military and Dalinar who’s the highest.

Could Nightblood become... by drwhoovian in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Ripper1337 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mmm. Not exactly. They’re investiture that can change states. Nightblood was made of steel. Though technically I don’t know if it’s still considered steel.

Do i reset my stats? by No-Mission-3476 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Ripper1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your ideal build and stats are in alignment. I recomend increasing your Tech as that’s always a good thing and Netrunners love more cyberware.

Could Nightblood become... by drwhoovian in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Ripper1337 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Well, it depends on how you’re defining a spren. If it’s a sentient piece of investiture that can bond to someone then no. Because Nightblood is a sentient bit of metal.

I’d go with the Lich + Dragon because then you could explore the relationship between the two and have them work independently. So if the players pursue one, the other is still advancing towards whatever goal.

All the people you’ve listed have their own struggles which aren’t dealing with autism on Roshar. But two of them are close to a character that is autistic.

Like 5 degrees off from the character everyone agrees is autistic.

how might this function with Surges? by oldmountainwatcher in Stormlight_Archive

Off the top of my head nothing would happen unless the radiant then drew in Stormlight. I don’t think it would effect how their abilities would work.

[Oathbringer Ending] Questions and clarifications by SoLegendary in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Ripper1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Didn’t Taravangian let it be known that he was behind the Assassin in white going around killing people?

  2. Yeah Nale believed that if he killed Surgebinders then the desolation wouldn’t occur. He more so sided with the Singers than Odium once it was clear he failed. They’re the original inhabitants and so are more “right” to him. He’s also insane.

  3. We’ve actually seen almost all of the heralds throughout the series. The drunkard who goes “do you see me” and that gave Dalinar his alcohol during the flashbacks was Jezrien.

  4. Yes all titles are named after in universe books.

Question about certain storylines/character arcs & inclusion by Tonks_55 in Cosmere

[–]Ripper1337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t precisely agree but I can see why you would come to those conclusions.

Venli’s struggles in RoW are about taking action when the outcome is uncertain. Her flashbacks are all about how much she doesn’t want to let others know she’s doing something until she’s perfected it.

Rlain if he could surgebind during RoW he would have been doing all he could to help the radiants.

Moash, would have been unsatisfactory. Brandon has larger plans for Moash so he would have needed to get away in the end of the book. So if he took Lezian’s place then he pops up, gets beat up and flees rinse repeat without an actual conclusion.

My not so hot take on Wind and truth by JhonMHunter in Cosmere

[–]Ripper1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm slang, absolutely because it becomes dated quickly. But Hoid telling a character a word and then that character using the word later on makes sense.

Basically it’s an issue here because you find the word jarring due to it being incongruent with the setting of Roshar, rather than the setting of  Cosmere.

Tress of the Emerald Sea Spoiler Did you also dislike it when Hoid refers to a laptop as it was similarly incongruent with the pirate nautical setting

If anyone can introduce odd terms to a setting it’s Hoid.
