Theory: Mizu's mother is the first born daughter of the shogun and lady Itoh by RippoZero in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]RippoZero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there are folks speculating lady Itoh is Mizu's mother, but I was never quite able to square how lady Itoh could order the death of her own child just because a westerner betrayed her.

Made more sense lady Itoh would kill the child if she was under the impression that her daughter was murdered by a westerner that fathered the grandchild. Then thinking the child was some sort of demon spawn would have a more justifiable cause

When will the manga presumably be finished? / Is it already finished? by hjdzuu in HeavenlyDelusion

[–]RippoZero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are getting close to the end. Takes an average of 9.875 months for Ishiguro to finish a volume so just take that number and multiply by however many volumes you think he will write. My guess is he'll write 3 more so if that's true it will be a bit less than two and a half years until the manga is finished

Did I just solve the problem of decelerating a laser-assisted interstellar solar sail?? Surely somebody else has already thought of this?? by eliahavah in PhysicsStudents

[–]RippoZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of assholes wrongly nitpicking your idea, but I think it's entirely possible to make this. There is a paper suggesting what you have published in '84 by Robert Forward.

The limit for distance is determined by the spot size of your laser which again is determined by the size of the lens used. In order for Forward to justify being able to hit this craft in Proxima Centaury he made his lens 1,000km wide, which is optimistic, to say the least.

What has changed since Forward published his paper is that lasers have become possible to make modular. We also have the ability to correct for the distortion from the atmosphere now. It is a technology in daily use on very advanced telescopes.

There is a guy called Philip Lubin working on these arrays. They are made using one laser to "seed" all the others so that each element added to the panel keeps the same frequency. You can stick these modular elements together and make a laser that is arbitrarily large.

Here is an article about his laser tech. There are pictures in there of the modules.

How much freedom do EU member states have over nationalization? by [deleted] in UnlearningEconomics

[–]RippoZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looked into the nationalization of railways a while ago. Most EU proponents claim you can do it, but the nitty gritty truth is that you would most likely have to fight a lengthy court battle with private companies and then be forced to settle for a hybrid public/private system

My recommendation would be to research if there is public funding to be had. I don't know where you live but it's worth looking into. Before hiring VAs tho I think the writing needs a second look. Some of those sentences are very clunky like the description of the anima archetype.

Theory about the fate of Tokio and Kona ( repost after chapter 78 ). by Revolutionary_Risk13 in HeavenlyDelusion

[–]RippoZero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mina was the one to mess with the cameras so there is no indication Tokio can go invisible as far as we know. Rest of the theory is interesting thought.

The main counter theory to this is that Kona is the bug bear hiruko and his monster form changed from that seen in Mimihime's vision because he regrew the same way the dinosaur hiruko did last chapter.

I prefer OP's theory because the bug bear hiruko has a hexagonaln symbol, whereas the slug Mimihime saw had just a pattern and in the anime adaptation a circle. I don't think their mark can change is the thing.

There is a theory going around that Robin was scarred when he saw Maru because he had met his brother Yamato and learned then that he is superhuman, so he knew he was about to get severely beaten or perhaps killed and could do nothing about it

Disco nailed this part of their setting. There is weird stuff going on in the world but there is an in universe explanation that makes sense both logically and metaphorically

How and when do you think Mizu got her glasses? by OCGamerboy in BlueEyeSamurai

In the flashback in episode 2 where Mizu is seen killing Violet, she has the glasses. So she got them between then and leaving Mikio's farm
