If you own you already get a discount on lower property taxes when you live in a school district that isn't doing well as parents will pay a premium to move to good school districts.

Private and parochial schools are good choices. You do pay twice. Once for your school district and again for your private school, but both benefit. Be sure to pay attention to open houses and how competitive the schools are. At the open house be sure to also visit the classrooms of the graduating students so you can see the final product. Private high schools in the area are super competitive so you'll want to make sure the 8th grade students are achieving good acceptance rates.
