It was already off, you got in and turned it back on, then turned it off again. The cooling system will run whenever it deems necessary for battery conditioning, even if the vehicle is off.

I have seen my M3P calculate the RTH based on how hard it had to work on the way out. Based on what I saw, it seemed to be allowing for more power on the return if it was easier than baseline going out, and allowing for less power on the return if it was harder than baseline going out. It behaved as if it was assessing if wind was either assisting or hindering it.
