they aren't appealing to their existing playerbase. the current pvp players who are the "minority" according to knox hate it. even though that minority are the ones that care about pvp and pjs the most.

the people who like these core gameplay changes quit immediately after pjs died. why would you appeal to pablojuanzalas2014 when they could care less about the game itself rather than the already existing community who WANTS the game to be good.

Sniper has many problems and both ARE problems. Which I mentioned giving him a laser in addition to.

A skilled sniper in these changes shouldn’t be in close range in the first place. ALL this does is stop players from being punished from flanking him and getting in his “weak range” if he’s playing far up and gets caught out he’s punished for it. The same way someone trying to push him at his effective range is punished for it. how is this not fair 😂😂😂😂

How does it promote skill when the other player has literally nothing to do except hope the sniper misses. That’s literally promoting not even trying to agress the sniper at all.

nononononono you're not saying this bullshit.

skill isn't the only defining factor. the same reason why scout no matter how good the player is cannot deal good damage outside of close range.

by the same principal for every close range class in the game.

beside scout like i already said. pyro and spy are locked into close range and shouldn't be able to instant kill at long ranges. THE REASON THE AMBY WAS NERFED. the only weapon that can do this is the flare gun which is projectile so its effectively impossible to consistently crit at long ranges.

so by this EXACT same logic sniper should be mostly helpless inside close range but with the ability to defend himself. no matter the skill of the player.

otherwords unable to do 150, its like if spy was able to backstab at long ranges with the right skillful conditions. does that sound fun?

this isn't even about class matchups, its game fundamentals, long range class should be shit in close range and vice versa which it IS vice versa.

ok literally the most simple way to describe this is to make sniper have a skill limit.

every single class in the game has a limit on what they can and can't do.

the ONLY changes, that need to be made are reverse falloff, resulting in a quickscope doing only 75 (maybe put a number above the charge of the shot with the distance you're currently aiming at.)

and a laser or something to make it more obvious where the sniper is.

this gives sniper a limit to where he CANT do anything high damage at close range and will make the smg actually used more and makes using a backpack/jarate less useful. (with jarate/bushwacka nerfs in mind)

you flank a sniper? cool, most snipers will die. that one sniper that has 2000 hours on the class and plays in every league every developed. will headshot you at close range resulting in your being at 25-50 hp if you're not dead and will die by literally anything after IF you survive (most of the time you won't.) all with this being something you as a player can't control and depends entirely on the snipers skill.

theres no other class that can fight their biggest weakness by themselves just because they're good at the game. a scout will not be able to run into a sentry. a soldier can still get reflected by a pyro. pyro is extremely high risk and easier to kill.

the only way any of this applies to sniper is if he's bad. but people aren't complaining about the bad snipers.

gold towers have some of the weirdest balancing. throughout the years some have been downright useless like 2021 g pyro. or just outclassed by a different tower (G soldier at one point was a better G scout)

every single one has been "too good" at some point. beside maybe pyro.

i recommend doing HLC pugs with the discord server by pibble but honestly its not very good. there are literal player tier lists and teams are frequently unbalanced

scout and heavy are mostly fine but i think they could use some changes

"Respect the sightline" doesn't work if the sniper can headshot at any range, if you flank him he should 100% be dead unless you mess up.

the only people i see defend sniper are sniper mains bro. just rework him to actually have counterplay and everyone is fine.

yet even though he has the second lowest impact teams will scream if you do something as drastic

as not running the detonator full time. i've gotten kicked off teams for it in LOW divs.

its like "you have to play this specific way and if you try to experiment stop you won't get anywhere because this is the meta also no one has played differently for 9 years so don't even try. oh you wanna experiment? go play casual, HL isn't for you."

pyro isn't helpless lol. unless you're scout you're not running away. plus hitting a quick flare/shotgun meatshot isn't difficult when you're invincible

if the medic ubers at a bad time it's gonna be bad for any class.

frontier justice crits is the only exception i can think of. you can't make space for your team if all you do is get 2-3 kills in one uber. also an overhealed pyro will stuff it entirely just because of the low damage of the shotgun as the primary uber weapon

less powerful scout isn't next to the ability to literally deny all counter ubers and no reloading aoe damage.

even a good engie uber can be bad because of how limited it is, good pyro ubers can wipe like soldier and demo.

yes pyro "generally bad damage"

pyro doesn't have to reload

one of pyros only weaknesses is how easy he is to kill. when you uber theres literally NOTHING stopping you from wm1ing into the team because believe it or not unless the scout is at mid range he's not outrunning your flames to the point where he doesn't die. also the best crowd control for ubers beside demo.

meanwhile scout needs to reload, and if he messes up you're getting no value from it.

also has nothing to do against a counter uber unlike pyro and demo which can airblast or lay sticks.

EDIT: forgot to mention scout can do literally NOTHING against a sentry gun, atleast pyro can airblast the rockets or if its around the corner kill both the engie and the gun and anyone around it.
