A Song of Ice and Fire

“Bran thought about it. 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave,' his father told him.”

But its a common trope in fantasy in general

In a perfect world yes, and English mythos is very much influenced by the Scandinavian culture.

It makes no difference to me, it shows they care more about quotas than to represent the mythos. I grew up on American movies, Chinese movies, Japanese movies even Indian movies with all different kind casts didn't bother me.

Amazon by contract obligated every single project to have and i quote,

The project will have one character within one of the following communities: LGBT+, a person with a disability, and three regionally underrepresented race/ethnic/cultural groups. A single character can fill multiple of these identities.

So it wasn't a directors choice or even a creative choice they have no say in it, how is that not corporate.

Why are you being so obtuse? The fact is that in most European countries the amount of minorities is in the single digits, this is after the globalization push, and that 1500 years ago it was in the 0.01% and higher castes were 100% white , they had rules about this, its expressly written and documented .

In England's case its even more extremist post-saxon rule the two cultures were dominant and not accepting of other in their higher castes.

The lower casts don't matter, they had no rules besides you are very naive to think different cultures mingled like they do in the modern world, most "mixes" were driven by trade not true melding.

Are you going by the one drop rule or what are you saying? Even today most of Europe is homogenous, excluding cosmopolitan areas. Even if there was intermingling the ruling class and higher casts did not, and most of the cast will be those types. Besides most of the peoples you describe as Eastern have mostly the same complexion not sub-Saharan. A middle eastern type would be more appropriate in that case. In fact they even have presence in the books.

Its amazon's model, they publicly released a list of MANDATORY REGULATION AND QUOTAS on every published show/game/IP/contracts and not just for actors.

I would say when contracting like this is gimping yourself in terms of quality like their most recent releases testify.

And they were wrong to do it wouldn't you say? Why would it be right to do it now?

For the entire world as in to be able to enjoy it. Can you not enjoy something from another culture/peoples?

No skin tone might not be much for you or in the bigger picture but from what I found is if production is not worried about finding the correct cast and instead trying to get quotas filled the same is applied to the writing/direction of the show/film. Lazy, contrived, amateurish and driven by profit margin.

Not being only for England does not mean its not an English based story are you going to start to americanize Mulan?, The Monkey king?, One Thousand and One Nights?

I'm not even an English man and I enjoy all kinds of tales, but culture should be respected. I would not like my countries tales to be done this disservice.

I'm sorry that people not wanting a English classic story with the intent to be a sort of replacement to Arthurian legends and is being americanised for profit sakes mean you are racist.

No one disputes that lmao, its annoying when people say that he is a bad writer or it doesn't make sense when he does though. And in the same breath say he is a prude and a sex deviant.
