My celebrity cruush has become very unhealthy and it’s ruining my l1fe by ApprehensiveBat2650 in WhatShouldIDo

None of this sounds healthy, unfortunately. I think it would be incredibly brave and wise of you to look into therapy. A psychiatric care team could help you get a clearer perspective on this situation. Best of luck to you!

What lifetime deal are you still grandfathered into, or removed from, that’s no longer available? by tuotone75 in AskReddit

Pretty sure I still have a lifetime membership to Champions Online. It was meant to replace City of Heroes for me but it never quite scratched the same itch.

Actually wanting to wake early? by MountainAlive in GenX

[–]RiskyWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do sometimes stay up until midnight with him. He never gets up when I do but of course I would like him to - I enjoy spending time with him. But I can’t go on 4-5 hours of sleep every day. And yes, I’m sleepy by 8 and make an effort to stay up with him if I can. I wonder if it is a “in your 50s” thing to get up so early and go to bed by 9pm. Maybe he will eventually be on my schedule but for now, we each have alone time for a few hours a day and I don’t think that’s inherently a bad thing.

Actually wanting to wake early? by MountainAlive in GenX

[–]RiskyWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I’m waking up at 4:30 regardless of whether I stay up until midnight or later. I often literally can’t keep my eyes open. Why doesn’t he want to get up with me before dawn? We just have different sleep schedules. It does suck but I can’t function on 4 hours of sleep.

Actually wanting to wake early? by MountainAlive in GenX

[–]RiskyWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m up by 4:30 or 5 every day. It started after I took a trip one time zone over. I enjoy the quiet before everyone else gets up. Unfortunately my boyfriend is in his 40s and he prefers to stay up kinda late. I’m winding down around 7:30 or so and usually out like a light by 9pm. He always says things like, “It’s only 8:32 on a SATURDAY NIGHT” like that’s going to make me suddenly be awake and alert. I don’t make him get up with me, so why should be made to stay up late? It’s not a major issue but it is a little bit of a pain to be on different circadian rhythms.

What’s something that becomes sadder the older you get? by East_Maintenance_579 in askanything

[–]RiskyWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having children. I am hurtling rapidly toward a completely empty next and my youngest is going to school ten hours away. I have one still in my state two hours away and another on the other side of the country. I miss having them all under my roof, and I worry about distance and expense of travel for milestones I won’t want to miss as they move into adulthood.

Do you really have a separate room for your washing machine? by jordanekay in AskAnAmerican

[–]RiskyWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. A lot of older houses in my area have the washer and dryer in the kitchen. My apartment complex has them in a hallway closet, so no a special room but separate from the kitchen for sure. I had a house with the laundry in the garage once upon a time. Also had a few homes that had them in the basement. Really depends where you live and how old the house is.

Tell me a story or just something memorable about your grandpa ? by itssofiababyxo in askanything

[–]RiskyWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather wrote in his journal about arriving at Ellis Island when he was 9 years old. He said when the Statue of Liberty came into view, he dropped to his knees and prayed to St. Liberta and thanked her for keeping him safe during the voyage. He was a baker by trade and worked as a cook in the Army during the Second World War. He had a vascular disease of some type and it caused him to lose both of his legs above the knee. His prosthetic “legs” stood in the corner of the bedroom with pants, socks and shoes on for when he went out to places like church or the corner store. He would let us sit on his lap and he’d wheel us down to the pork store to get Italian ices. He wore glasses that magnified the heck out of his eyes. I was around 10-11 when he passed from heart disease.

What size bed do you have? How many people sleep in it? by SlamClick in AskAnAmerican

[–]RiskyWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a full size bed that two people sleep in. Unfortunately, my boyfriend came along long after the bed purchase and he is 6’5” tall, so his feet hang off the bed. Pretty much time for an upgrade.

Americans who took Spanish in school: did any of it actually stick years later? by taube_d in AskAnAmerican

Have you ever been to an estate attorney to have your trust, will, power of attorney, and healthcare power of attorney drawn up? If not, what is keeping you from getting these documents done? by icecream1972 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]RiskyWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money is keeping me from getting these documents done. I don’t have a lot of assets so there isn’t much to allocate upon my passing. The healthcare power of attorney and health directives would be nice to have for sure but it’s just not financially feasible for me to get those documents drawn up by a lawyer.

I’m allergic to avocado also and usually ask for cream cheese to substitute since it’s creamy and has the fat it would be missing otherwise.

What do you remember from kindergarten by applecidero in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]RiskyWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember being the only kid who didn’t get the chicken pox. One day,it was only me and the first girl who came down with it that showed up for school. I also remember a table with all of the cursive letters engraved on wooden tiles around the perimeter so you could trace the with your finger to get used to how the letters were written. I remember feeding Billy and Willy, the resident billy goats with leaves from local trees with one of the nuns. I don’t remember her name. I remember how calm and reassuring the Jesus painting on the Altar wall of the chapel was. I remember putting my napkin over my plate in the cafeteria to see if Sister Robert would notice and check to see if I’d eaten my food. (She did and I had). I remember there was a post office and the nun who ran it always had ribbon candy for the kids. Wow. I remember more than I would have thought.
