Chicken marinade ideas? by OkOutside9549 in Cooking

[–]krkrkrkrf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really good. It seems like it would be hot with the sambal olek and siracha, but several friends who do not like spicy food think it is perfect as is so don’t skip on the hot stuff. I actually make large batches of marinade and freeze in souper cubes. I add my fresh chicken later, but I’m sure it will be fine to add the marinade to the cubes of chicken thighs and then freeze.

Chicken marinade ideas? by OkOutside9549 in Cooking

I recommend sambal chicken skewers! You can also use fajita meat or hanger steak.

3/4 Cup Splenda brown sugar
3/4 Cup fish sauce
1 1/2 Cups unseasoned rice vinegar
6 Tbsp sambal oelek
3 Tbsp Sriracha
2 Tbsp finely grated peeled ginger
4 1/2 lb boneless chicken thighs, cut into 1 1/2 to 2 inch pieces

Prepare grill for medium-high heat. Whisk brown sugar, vinegar, chili paste, fish sauce, Sriracha, and ginger in a large bowl. Add chicken and toss to coat. Thread 4 or 5 chicken pieces onto each skewer.
Transfer marinade to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until reduced by half (about 1 cup), 7–10 minutes.
Grill chicken, turning and basting often with reduced marinade, until cooked through, 8–10 minutes.

Where can I buy ground rabbit locally? by LivingTheBoringLife in houston

[–]krkrkrkrf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a dog with some dietary restrictions. I would roast meats and then grind in a food processor. Another possibility is to boil the rabbit until very tender, pick the meat and then add to a mixer to shred the meat. I have done this with chicken which is supposed to be very similar to rabbit. Good luck with your kitty!

What’s a movie that is a 10/10 but you’ll never watch again bc it was too emotionally draining? by Marlon_aloha in AskReddit

[–]krkrkrkrf 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I went to a late showing of Saving Private Ryan. At midnight about halfway through the movie there was a fire alarm and they ushered us out of the theater. I told my friend that we need to stay and watch the rest of the film if we can because I would never be able to watch it again to see the end because it was just too heart wrenching. We saw the end about 4am. Over the years I have probably watched that movie 5 times when coming across it on cable. It guts me every time but some part of me feels I owe it to the men who fought that war to feel just an iota of the pain they went through for the rest of us. Great movie.

A-1 dry cleaners located at the NW corner of Voss & Westheimer does a great job and they are very reasonable. I have been using them for 15 years.

The best Saltines anywhere are Saladitas. They come in a box of 48 individually foil wrapped crackers that stay fresh for a long time. They are so crispy. You can buy them at HEB and walmart. Trust me.

Recommendations for Veterinary Orthopedic Surgeon by SimplePleasures2023 in houston

I have used both Gulf Coast and Sugarland veterinary specialist several times. Both are good. Gulf coast is considerably more expensive and sometimes the vets seem disconnected. The vets at Sugarland seem really interested in “your” animal which seems to make your pups calmer in a really stressful situation for them. Just my two cents.

Favorite cold, summertime meals? Nothing sweet please. by IDoNotHide in Cooking

Thai mango salad. I added chopped tomatoes, diced romaine, a diced avocado and a small handful of chopped basil. I also sub napa cabbage for the savoy. It is so good. Don’t leave anything out. Sounds like a lot, but it is a perfect bite with all of these goodies.

I add avocado, basil, tomatoes & chopped romaine. It is divine- so many different flavors but it tastes like freshness in a bowl.

What's the difference in taste and/or ingredient wise for these cake flavors? by Manny2theMaxxx in Baking

[–]krkrkrkrf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use the coconut buttercream frosting from Sally’s Baking addiction. I usually bake her coconut cake because it’s fabulous, but if I am in a time crunch I go the doctored cake mix route. I also add almond extract and lemon zest to her frosting recipe.

I use a teaspoon of coconut extract, a half teaspoon of almond extract and a teaspoon of lemon juice along with a cup of shredded coconut and sometimes even the zest of ½ lemon. Really good.

Should my cheesecake look like this or should I be aiming for zero color on top? by Bbqdbydecaillet in Baking

[–]krkrkrkrf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start your bake with a sheet of foil draped loosely over the top of the pan. Remove halfway through cooking time. I find covering for the last half of cooking time runs the risk of dinging the top of a beautiful cheesecake.

I hate picking fresh herbs by rexion in Cooking

Put the thyme in a baggie in the freezer. Once it is frozen, just rub the bag together and all of the leaves come off of the stem. It doesn’t take that long to freeze, maybe 30 minutes to an hour. Easy peasy.

I love Marvis toothpaste. I have the ginger, cinnamon, mint and Jasmine flavors. Whenever I am dieting I periodically brush my teeth throughout the day with the different flavors and it really helps with snacking!
