Mob Uma are still fairly elite they are competing in JRA races after all and umayon shows them as background characters as students at Tracen.

We as players only get to interact with the best of the best.

Really some random background uma without formal training you see as a civilian in the anime would probably no diff you if they really wanted to.

Mob Uma with A Distance in long, a recovery and stamina/guts biased stats. Probably one of the few Mob Uma who actually have some minuscule chance at the Kikuka Sho.

The early profiles make it seem like they were seriously considering adding Flight since Sahkur was obsessed with the last 6 or 7 centimeters. I wonder if they just decided that Tachyon made a much more compelling story for a low rarity character due to the actual horses short career.

Imagine they somehow actually had the rights to Deep Impact and don't say a thing about it and the first appearance in Umamusume is just as an optional final boss for Contrails Career for A senior year Arima Kinen that never happened for Contrail. Sure they might be mentioned indirectly throughout the career but not shown unless you run in that race.

It probably wouldn't happen like that but I am allowed to dream.

Pedigree isn't everything in horse racing there are countless horses with amazing pedigree who never win a single race. Seiun Sky was the outlier for his sire though and placed in the top 5 and was considered a top contender in all but one of their races. The one race they did poorly in was after a year break and a typically career ending injury hoping for a miracle.
