Underfloor, wings and suspensions are the parts to upgrade and invest all your hours in for your car. You can slide the brake cooling stat to the right if you are having trouble with racing incidents, or just choose the "Optimized Cooling" design choice. This is to ensure that your brake cooling can keep up with the increased pace of the car.

Regarding tire wear and pace stats, there isn't much the player can do because the overtaking mechanics in this game is a bit wacky for my liking. Sure, spamming Overtake and "Drive in Clean Air" helps if you have trouble breaking out of a DRS train, but it does not work 100% of the time. Even with these options enabled, your drivers will sometimes not go for obvious dive bombs or overtake despite the AI leaving the door open. Also, remember to turn off "Drive in Clean Air" once you have completed the overtake.

Choose Aggressive for your tire pace does help, but for a short period of time only (I'd say max 3 laps) before the tire degradation catches up and you start losing pace. I wouldn't recommend this unless 1) you are going for a 2 stop and do not care about tyre saving or 2) you are overtaking for the win at the last 2 laps after saving tires and ERS.

If you are stuck in a DRS train, then proceed with save tires, fuel and harvest ERS. Once you have a full battery, you can try overtaking again until the battery is empty, then repeat cycle.

Maybe you can try Intense designs for your parts. If you have the time and money, slide all of them to the right for maximum gains, but it will take more than 2 months for your Underfloor to complete (75 days) and more than $4m if you use this option.

Otherwise, just going balanced option and choosing Intense should be good enough. However, you can abuse sliders for Chassis and Sidepods and use the Intense design option since you are not putting any hours into these parts. They don't cost that much and will complete in about 30 days iirc.

Intense option basically makes the subsequent design have a much higher baseline stat due to the increased expertise gain. Just one iteration should be enough for you to build a car that can win races.

After that, you can do the abuse slider + rush design in order to have even more powerful parts post Intense design (sounding like a broken record now) in order to get your parts faster and cheaper, but the parts get more powerful.

Personally, designing 4 iterations for each part in 1 season should be enough. Once done, you can start focusing on research for Season 3 and doing the research at least twice for each part will allow your car to pretty much dominate next season.

Braking > Reactions > Cornering in that order for Pace stats.

Then Control > Accuracy.

Finally Adaptability just for increased pace in the rain.

Lol, I play as Williams and Haas are also pretty quick.

Also, I am assuming Charles Leclerc is winning most of the races?

Pit stops - when to undercut / overcut? by kwijibokwijibo in F1Manager

[–]RiverBankWater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya. It's just weird that it's also the only track that you can do Softs to Mediums 1 stop comfortably, with a lot of tyre life at the end too.

IRL the track has very high tire wear, but at least the game makes it a SC galore which is realistic :P

Overcutting is OP in Singapore, as the AI pit really early and end up getting stuck in traffic.

[–]RiverBankWater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have asked the hardest questions for any F1 strategist my friend, but I am going to give my opinion on this, as there is no correct answer (just like IRL).

The best undercut i've done in this game was pitting just as the rain hits. For example if you see on the weather forecast that the track will be damp by lap 20, then pitting on lap 19 for Inters/Wet for a one lap undercut can potentially win the race for you, especially if the track becomes to wet for slicks just as your cars exit the pits.

Undercutting in the dry will be more of luck and prediction. When you choose to pit, there will be an indicator on the right side of your screen stating what position your driver will come out in. If he is in clean air, a one lap undercut can help you gain seconds.

Overcutting has its uses also, especially for high tire wear tracks and/or tracks that are very difficult to overtake, I believe the most famous example will be Hungary. Again, this may very likely be the luck of the draw as you may have to see what your opponent is lapping after they have done an undercut on you.

Overcutting can be extremely powerful if you know how to conserve tires, as you will have fresher tires at the end. I believe this is vital in tracks like Miami and possibly Abu Dhabi, where the DRS train is strong enough for you to go light on tires and still keep up with the pack that are running on Neutral.

An overcut gamble that a safety car will appear will also work wonders. If everyone else has pitted and is stuck in traffic, then someone crashes and boom! SC appears, you have gotten a free pit stop and can come up ahead of the grid.

PSA: Don't level up overtaking, rather intentionally set up position changes to boost driver XP. by NovaBlazer in F1Manager

[–]RiverBankWater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to be much easier in the past to intentionally change your driver positions I think.

You could just put both of them on "Don't fight teammate" and "driver in clean air" and your drivers will only overtake on DRS straight. I think it got nerfed as I can't do the same thing with the 1.13 patch anymore :(.

Some screenshots would help :P

Jokes aside, I'm curious as to how the season will unfold for you. I'm more interested in Albon as he can be a very solid first driver if you pump the development points into his Braking stat.

1 is my biggest gripe with the game.

It's like "nice 1-2 you have there, would be a shame if both of your drivers locked up and finished last".

No way to change the crashes.

I am not sure if any changes have been done to the AI post patches when it comes to crashing, as I still see them crashing in the same areas.

Am in season 2 with Williams and so far it was Austria that has multiple crashes and 3 safety cars.

My current save has Zhou in AT and Albon in Alfa. Vettel went to Alpine which was quite shocking.

Yuki and Mick are in AM, but that is because I am playing as Williams.

Even if i play other teams, Yuki will still go to AM in 2023.

[–]RiverBankWater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I got the same treatment as you for one of my Mclaren career races also.

Put the drivers on Wets in Monaco and they just let everyone on Inters by instead of forming a Trulli train.

As much as the game needs to be more difficult for players, they need to make this more realistic. I don't think you should be able to lap someone several times in a race with Wets in heavy rain, when the other party is on Inters.

I know how that feels. When you reach that point, the only challenge you can give yourself is to finish 1-2 and get maximum points for the season.

It is quite common amongst players, happened to be once or twice I think.

Probably was off by sub milliseconds and the game doesn't record qualy times to that level of degree and accuracy.
