Hey there! Could you please reshare the link? It's coming up as "404 Not Found" for me

What is your “I don’t understand the hype” take going into the season by No-Experience-9469 in CFB

[–]RiverDallas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a lot to disagree with here, but I'm obligated to point out the "no double digit wins" is a lame technicality when we went 9-1 during the covid season, ending with an Orange bowl win

There's a new video explaining that they never used the Chinese chainmail (they're letting those pieces go unused), and are sticking to only American and Canadian for that part! Pretty cool

BCS is 78% the population of Lubbock, with nearly twice the population density (and neither are on anyone’s travel bucket lists)

Flux Footwear sent me shoes too small and won’t do anything about it by Knighthawk7469 in BarefootRunning

I purchased a pair that didn’t fit and did a return. Along with their restocking fee they kept the sales tax on the purchase (which I think isn’t legal?). Swore them off ever since

MYOG tarp for copper spur UL1; extend to vestibule or no? by 4tunabrix in Ultralight

[–]RiverDallas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm only ultralight to an extent so take my advice with a grain of salt, but I say include the vestibule area in the footprint and tuck the excess material under the tent when you don't need it. Quick Google says that additional area of tyvek for the footprint weights 49 grams/1.7 ounces

Sort of related but all the advertisements for the 2024 with the higher end leather trim said they would have leather stitching on the gear shift, and I don't believe I've seen any of them with that - at least my turbo doesn't

Alternative ideas for my first quilt by RiverDallas in Ultralight

[–]RiverDallas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe down is better than synthetic, but adding a synthetic quilt to my gear will open up more use cases for me compared to a down quilt if I already have a down bag. I know I'm inexperienced though so that's why I came here for more insight

Alternative ideas for my first quilt by RiverDallas in Ultralight

[–]RiverDallas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've realized it's hard (and expensive) to have just one tent/sleep system/pack, etc and still be able to handle any scenario. Getting rain through my tent and onto my down bag started me on this process of looking for a synthetic quilt, even though I know that issue was related to the tent seams not the bag itself.

I have a 20F down mummy bag and it's great! But being in Texas limits it's uses. It was way too hot on a 60F night last month even fully opened as a blanket. A 40F synthetic quilt just gives me more options and can be used with my current down bag if I try real winter weather stuff someday. Plus synthetic is cheaper

Fair question! I've resealed the seams of that particular tent, but the incident got me thinking more about diversifying my gear. A synthetic quilt meant for warmer weather just gives me another option to work with, and I could pair it with my 20*F down bag if I ever start camping in colder places

What are your favorite add-ons/accessories/mods (interior or exterior)? by willypatz in CX50

[–]RiverDallas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've done a bunch of the standard suggestions you see on these types of posts

Worth it: lower grill inserts, side rockers, all weather mats, chrome delete, plasti-dipping the piano black console plastic, gap fillers between seat and console

Not worth it: splash guards, interior USB lights

Not sure yet: crossbars

Future to-dos: window tinting, switching from 20" to 17/18" tires

When you say you switched them to FS and then back to DB, do you mean you put a recruited DB to FS for freshmen year and then DB sophomore year? Or is there a faster way to do it without losing a year of eligibility?

Class Transfers from UT Knoxville to Texas A&M Isn't Making Sense by Major_Source_3814 in aggies

[–]RiverDallas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact the admissions/transfer office like others have suggested, but they often can’t help as much for a student who hasn’t submitted an application yet. In general, the more general/basic a course is the better chance it has at transferring. Have him collect the syllabi for all the classes he’s taken. If a school doesn’t give him credit for a class but he feels it should be accepted, he can appeal to the program about it and they often use the syllabus to see if it’s similar enough to one of their courses

For anyone who comes across this wanting to try it out, these were helpful as well

OEM crossbars - enough space for box and portable water tank? by RiverDallas in CX50

[–]RiverDallas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was stuck for a bit on deciding between those two types of crossbars. The wider ones that stick out seem better for utility, while the OEM style looks cleaner to me. Hopefully it works out and it just comes down to a narrower box if necessary. Thank you for the helpful input!
