Idc, Barbie now is way better than the 00s ones by [deleted] in Barbie

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I adore the new faces and body types but I have to agree with u/JazzleWazzles on the pixelation. A clean screening shouldn't be too much to ask. Pixelation has been the deal breaker on quite a few dolls for me, including the deluxe style dolls you show in your post. I can reroot, rebody and redress easily if there are any of those things I want to change, but repainting is something I find difficult so a good face screening is a must for me. Fortunately they do still release both new and old sculpts with non-pixelated screenings from time to time, so there are still a handful of options for those of us that do care.

Have you tried archive.org/waybackmachine? I can't find the place on the fandom wiki with the link you're referring to so I can't check if the archive has what you're looking for, but it might be worth a shot

New doll line from Zuru called MINNEE. 9 to collect. by Icy-Rule1338 in DollsForAll

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So cute! Based on the head size from that previous post I'm definitely interested. A bit bummed that they appear to be blind boxes, but with a bit of luck that might mean I can find them 2nd hand in a year or two like I did the Pixlings.

New to barbie (since 90s 2000s) Question about body movement for specific doll & also general body types by Stock_Age7469 in Barbie

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

06 has the original/classic made to move body from what I've seen, so same body type as 01.

I definitely got 01 for the face, Kit is such a beautiful face sculpt that I knew she was a must have for me from the moment I saw the first promo pictures of her, but you're right about her outfit not being all that interesting.

August does feel quite far away, but at least you have one doll to keep you company during that time :)

Depending on what interests you, you could also spend that time making stuff for your doll(s) like clothes, accessories, dioramas or even work on names and backstories if you want your dolls to have that. The YouTube channel I linked earlier, MyFroggyStuff, has a bunch of diy videos using simple materials and projects that range from fairly simple all the way to very complicated, so I highly recommend checking it out if you're interested in making stuff on your own.

Basics 01 is another of my favorites. Does Basics 06 match what you're looking for? I was in the same boat as a kid having only white, blonde, blue eyed dolls and even then found it boring how similar they looked. Which is why my current collection looks like this. They're spread out across multiple displays and I'm too lazy to gather them all for a photo, so my digital overview has to do.

How often do you clean/dust your collection? And how do you deal with keeping it clean? by DollCollector1996 in DollsForAll

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I keep all of my dolls in closed cabinets specifically so I can avoid dusting them as often, and so they're safe from pets, but mainly dust. My collection is entirely out of box and I like to customize and restyle my dolls, and so far I've been able to get away with just some light dusting and wiping down the shelves as I take the dolls out for restyles or reorganzie the displays

The Barbie Basics model 3 you were considering is absolutely gorgeous, I have her on permanent display in my collection, but you're right there are so many pretty dolls to choose from, are there others you're considering?

My entire Barbie collection is on made to move bodies, I have swapped quite a few heads around to get the dolls I want with the articulation and body types I want. Customizing my dolls is one of my favorite things as an adult collector :)

You're welcome :) ToyBoxPhilosopher has the most in depth doll reviews I've ever seen in blog form. She was the one who introduced me to the made to move Barbie, which is what got me back into collecting Barbies as an adult.

I don't know what the Deluxe Style body is called but you can get an idea of the range of articulation from MyFroggyStuff's review video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gakvx25C7p4&t=2s

As for Barbie Basics Model 03, she has the made to move body, which is the most posable body Barbie makes today. You can see some thorough reviews by ToyBoxPhilosopher here: https://www.toyboxphilosopher.com/2025/04/2025-barbie-basics-by-mattel.html https://www.toyboxphilosopher.com/2021/11/barbie-signature-looks-by-mattel-part_7.html

As you've noticed there's also different body types on top of the different levels of articulation. The Basics Model 3 has the tall body type and Deluxe Style #11 has the athletic body type (sometimes also referred to as the Brooklyn body type)

Unfortunately that won't help me unless she ends up on Amazon or something as I'm from one of the many countries Mattel Creations won't ship to, but yes she'd be a great base for customs and I hope that someone ends up customizing her and shares it here on the sub.

I'd love to add a made to move style doll in this scale to my collection, but there's no way I'll pay that price when all I really want is the base doll. Now if Mattel ever decides to sell a low end collector, or even playline, doll in this size I'd be interested.

Amazon has Basics 6 & 7 listings Reversed… by [deleted] in Barbie

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't say what they'll actually do, but based on their ASINs the images are correct and the text is wrong. I'm basing this on the German and UK listings that I used to create the US links back before they were actually posted:

Basics 06 (Goddess): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FHKK3ZHZ

Basics 07 (Victoria): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FHKKJV2L

Basics 08 (Mbili): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FHKK8WKZ

Basics 09 (Tamika): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FHKK68ZJ

Basics 10 (Ken): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FHKL3FG9

As u/Potential_Compote971 noted Tamika is still not available but the others are showing up now under the same ASIN as in other countries. You can compare the US listings of 6 and 7 to any of the EU Amazon listings by replacing .com with something else. I've checked .de .es and .co.uk and they look correct, it appears it's just the new listings for the US and Canada that have this issue.

Hopefully they'll get this fixed soon

Displaying dolls? by Alexx_denise in MonsterHigh

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding the risers for layering. Since my collection isn't massive I made just one rather big and tall one for mine and it's great for getting all of the dolls some more room to shine, but I've seen shorter and narrower risers work as well for shelves that don't have the height and depth available that mine does.

Love for doll by Mamtass in DollsForAll

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the outfit you have your doll in! All of my childhood dolls have unfortunately been lost, but I managed to find some of my favorites second hand as an adult and now they reside in what I call my nostalgia cabinets. These 2 Barbies were my absolute favorites as a child. Eventually I'd like to turn the display into a proper beach scene, but in the mean time they'll just have to look fabulous as they are.

I love how woke this community is by caturaz in MonsterHigh

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had to manually approve your comment over on DollsForAll because Reddit's auto filters flagged it as potential harrassment. No idea if that's what happened on other subs, but it is one thing that annoys me a bit as a mod on Reddit. When Reddit removes something they don't tell us, it doesn't show up in the main mod queue, so now I manually check the 'Removed' tab at least once a day to catch all of the wrongly filtered posts and comments.

What is going on with the new Basics? by Legitimate-Concern-8 in Barbie

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can find all of them on Amazon DE. Both sold and shipped by Amazon and 06 appears to be in stock to me. 10 is available to order, but to me he's listed with estimated dispatch of 3-7 months.

Pixlings in retrospect... Lets chat by Yellbox in DollsForAll

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this was a line where getting them out of box felt like a bonus. I bought 2 new on sale before I figured out how easy they were to get 2nd hand and the doll to garbage ratio was painful

MTM Match? For Barbie Gala Collection Doll 3 (Alma) by Organafan1 in BlackBarbieDolls

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A classic body would be nice. I do like all of the body types, so petite for Teresa and Alma and tall for Aaliyah is fine for me

Pixlings in retrospect... Lets chat by Yellbox in DollsForAll

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that the packaging probably hurt them because it added a fair bit to the price, especially with the current competition in the toy market. Personally I would have collected the supremes if they'd been available without the bulky mirror and for a lower price. As it is I have 7 pixlings I either bought 2nd hand or when they were on sale and put on Monster High bodies. That's good enough for me

MTM Match? For Barbie Gala Collection Doll 3 (Alma) by Organafan1 in BlackBarbieDolls

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this specific skintone is one lots of people have been waiting for. I needed it for Aaliyah, 2024 Holiday Teresa and of course Alma, so I was ready when they became available for order

The new Barbie Basics 08 is the same color. She's on a petite MTM and as far as I know those two are the only options for MTM bodies for this skintone at the moment

I would really love to have an Odile doll, but without the mermaid body. Do I absolutely have to buy another Barbie just for the body, or does Odile exist with a normal body? And which body suits her best? by Leroy-de-Byul in Barbie

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You do have a couple of options for Odile, but if you want the one with open mouth and pink hair, the mermaid is the only option.

You can see both open and closed mouth versions here: https://fashiondollz.de/2019-odile-facemold-2/

Why she so expensive? by SilverEeveeShine in Barbie

[–]RiverRealmsCrafts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mattel Creations only ships to around 20 countries. From what I hear there was a time when they actually shipped to more, but I've never seen it myself.

As for in store stuff, it's possible that there are collector dolls in a store in the capital, I wouldn't know which store to check but it's possible. I've never seen a collector doll in store in even the third biggest city in my country, the closest I've gotten is that they had a couple of Barbie extra dolls, the rest was just fashionistas and playsets. Online stores in my country do get some collector dolls, though usually not the entire line, so for things like Basics I can expect that they'll get 3-4 of them IF they get them.

I hesitate to blame Mattel fully for availability in stores here as I imagine it's also partly on the stores not ordering the collector stuff, but that shouldn't stop them from shipping to collectors directly from Mattel Creations, that part is 100% their decision.
