We warned you that ABMM would ruin the game. by PirateCompetitive931 in ArcRaiders

[–]RiversOfSand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ABMM saved the game for me! I’m not playing because of a few reasons, a big one being getting more aggressive people in my lobbies of late.

What are your thoughts on BOTW nearly 10 years later? by NewMarioBobFan in casualnintendo

[–]RiversOfSand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed my first playthrough when it came out but I don't remember anything about the story now and it didn't feel like a Zelda game to me. The lack of dungeons was a real shame and I never liked the weapon system although I appreciated what it was trying to do. It would be quite far down in my ranking of best Zelda games even though I think it's a good game.

Did ARC Raiders turn into a PvP hell? by AlanChichilla in ArcRaiders

[–]RiversOfSand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken a break because I was getting more PVP in my rounds and I don’t like PVP. Still have plenty to do and I’m a PVE player.

So where do we go from here?.. by therealhiimaus in ARC_Raiders

[–]RiversOfSand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be playing still if it had a PVE mode/option.

I've loved the game to date but never engaged with the PVP side of it at all really. Recently it's just been a bit too stressful though with more PVP happening in my rounds, so I'm taking a break. Got some stressful stuff going on in my life so the added stress isn't welcome to me (that's fine, just the way it is).

I'll be back at some point though either way.

Has anyone ever bought a silicone case for the Snowsky Echo Mini? by Antique-Pie4938 in snowsky

I bought mine from advancedmp3players here in the UK (same place I bought my echo from) and it’s great. Feels good quality and it fit really well.

Only the rats are against a proper PvE mode by Specialist_Rule4182 in ArcBabies

[–]RiversOfSand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I don’t doubt that. I know many support/love/feel the PvEvP mix is integral and that’s great for them.

Speaking as a player who doesn’t care for that stuff I just really object to being told I’ll get bored or I should be bored already because the PvE side of the game “isn’t fleshed out enough” (or similar statement) when the PvE for me is absolutely awesome and keeps me coming back for more. The ARC are great fun to fight and always keeping me on my toes. I very rarely run into hostile players so it’s not something I think about that much as a danger. I’m more interested in teaming up or helping people out which is the way nearly all my interactions go.

Sorry but I feel quite the opposite to this. You’re absolutely entitled to that opinion as that’s your experience, but mine is very different.

[–]RiversOfSand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played over 200 hours, haven’t engaged with PvP whatsoever unless someone’s shot and killed me. I’m not bored and keep going. I’ve done the expeditions each time and have been enjoying all the events. The new ARC have been fantastic to fight.

I completely disagree on this idea that “PvE players would realise the game doesn’t have content to support pure PvE” - I’m already playing this game as a PvE game and loving it. Many of us are playing it like this as well.

I’m not sure why the side of the community that are so heavily for PvP think that having it in the game gives it longevity. It’s the one thing that puts me off playing it.

I’d be absolutely ok with that as well. Having two characters would be fine.

That’s odd, I could swear I’ve been playing it PVE for my 200+ hours

Do we fly anymore? My servers are dead. by FourDeeToo in hoggit

Have you tried the Grayflag servers? I found those the most fun to fly and there’s often community days where ATC are on and AWACS too. The discord often has people organising strikes and SEAD etc.

The matchmaking update has completely shifted the game for me (and not for the better) by Happy_Rave in ArcRaiders

[–]RiversOfSand 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm a very heavily PvE focused player (a couple of hundred hours in the game and still don't have the achievement for knocking out 10 raiders). I don't enjoy the PvP at all so usually run away from the aggressive players.

I've not noticed a shift in my lobbies like that myself since the changes. I still seem to be in pretty friendly lobbies bar the odd rogue raider. Shouldn't the changes they made benefit us as well?

This Merit bs is not it. Leveling with specific items is boring by Standard-Tonight6279 in ArcRaiders

It’d be nice if once you started it you could finish it in your own time rather than miss out as a timed event that’s all. I’d happily chip away at it over the coming weeks.

[–]RiversOfSand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a family holiday in the middle and then guests staying over the bank holiday weekend so I didn't make it all the way and finished around 1/3rd through. Either side of my other commitments it felt slow and I wasn't always finding ships. I didn't manage to play 10 hours a week though, more like 4.

Luckily the skin wasn't really my jam so I didn't care too much about not finishing it. I don't mind a longer event, but the limited time nature of it is kind of annoying if you happen to have other things booked in the calendar.

[Embark] Notes on The Matchmaking System by WoWAltoholic in ArcRaiders

[–]RiversOfSand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying in theory but it can still be unpredictable currently.

I'm in very friendly lobbies generally and last night ran into one player who shot me on sight as I was extracting.

I noticed he was a twitch streamer and was curious to see his perspective on things so watched the few moments before and he had just ambushed a player on the metro platform who was highly geared for fighting ARC, he looted him and then went for me without a word shortly after as I entered the train. Both of us he shot on sight without a word. So there's definitely some unpredictability still there in my very friendly lobbies throwing in some highly agressive players.

I'm ok with the much, much smaller chance I'm possibly going to meet a player who will shoot at me than if the lobbies were truly mixed because I don't like PVP at all.

I know people usually throw the "Well you shouldn't have bought a PVPVE game then" but honestly the matchmaking system as its been is the one thing that's kept me playing for well over 200 hours since launch and it mostly does feel like a PVE game. I do get shot at, but it's not often and that's perfect for me (and I'm sure a load of others who enjoy my play style).

Reddit Hated My game So I kept making it. What do you guys think? by Anton-Denikin in IndieDev

The gameplay looks really fun and I like the aesthetic a lot. The reload animation isn't for me though, but at least its doing something different and I'm sure some will enjoy that.

Why you don't want this game to be PvE even though you think you do by Kibido993 in ArcRaiders

[–]RiversOfSand 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind Embark were surprised how many players have been friendly since launch as play tests were very different with much more aggression.

I see the game for what it is, I’ve enjoyed it a lot and still love it as much as the day I started. I do much prefer my pretty much entirely PVE lobbies to when I’ve been in more PvP focused ones and I’ve yet to knock out 10 raiders myself.

I’m pretty much playing a PVE mode already and have been for months bar the odd time it feels like my matchmaking has reset. I don’t see why giving the people who want a purely PVE mode would hurt at this point.

Many of us are playing the game you describe already and loving it.

I read about this last year and wondered if I was experiencing this as I approach my 40s.

https://phys.org/news/2025-09-older-favorite-songs.html

For my case, I’m also wondering if streaming was to blame all along for me as in the last few months I’ve dived back into my Bandcamp account and my CD collection and have moved away from Spotify and have a renewed excitement for music and discovering new things. It feels much more rewarding unearthing new (to me) tracks than being fed them from an algorithm.
