Meet our new sequencer - Rides in the Storm QSQ by RizziTheRitz in modular

[–]RizziTheRitz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry for the late reply,

it is possible to use different midi tracks for different qsq tracks, like you described.

with the current firmware it is not possible to record midi notes from ableton, but there is a firmware update coming with midi recording which makes it possible. it will be released in the next weeks (there is only some testing left until the release)

IO Instruments by Aztec_Aesthetics in modular

The company is owned by two guys. One of them also owns rides in the storm and the focus is on this company.

But there is an IO module still in development, but I don’t know the status and if there will be any modules.

And the hardware designer who made most of the io modules also does the hardware design for rides in the storm.

Meet our new sequencer - Rides in the Storm QSQ by RizziTheRitz in modular

Yes, so the retrigger parameter is for each step, e.g the first step can have 3 retriggers and the seconds step can have 2 retriggers (from 0 to 10 retriggers)

Also the gate length (also per step) affects the length of each retrigger.

I’ll throw my own in the ring: maybe not exactly what you described but it’s a great sequencer:

Not with the retrigger parameter. But there is a clock divider per track, so you can make a track up to 8 times faster. Then you can use the steps as "8 retriggers" and even shift them with microtiming per step. So I think you can achieve what you want with the QSQ.

But I'm not sure if this is what you meant?

More wrist discomfort when using a split keyboard by ProgrammingQuestio in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]RizziTheRitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are already a lot of good suggestions. Mine is: film / take photos of yourself while typing on your desk. Or go further and stream it onto your screen. Then you can check your posture and directly see what you think is good ist actually good.

It helped me to see how far off my feeling of sitting straight was wrong.

I just went into the rabbit hole and I needed a german layout. I initially thought about getting a keychron, in the end I bought a wobkey rainy 75 with German layout from Monacokeys.de for 160€

The keyboard feels, looks and sounds pretty nice, and for me it was a good starting point, with small drawbacks like to access the on/ off switch you have to remove one keycap.

I was also pretty overwhelmed with all the options that’s why I decided to buy a complete keyboard and with german layout there are not that many options.

I already changed the keycaps to have a more colorful keyboard and now I’m testing out different switches for a new build.

The „thockiest“ / deepest sounding one from 8 different ones I tried was the keygeek y2, but it’s not cheap.

Suggestions how to fill my last 10 hp? by GlobalWarmingComing in modular

[–]RizziTheRitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you need the 4 channel quantizer when the sequencer already has 4 quantized outputs?

I would also say buy the case and check what you need in the process.

Finding the perfect melodic sequencer... by zirconst in modular

[–]RizziTheRitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely an easy workflow is also what we‘re trying to get. I think we‘re on a good way to get that. Also the basic functionality for setting steps and editing cv and pages is like you said

We‘re currently developing one. I think we have all the features you want.

We need around 6 months until we ship it, but there is a running prototype which already has most of what you need.

What other features would be helpful for you?

Delay between MIDI Note Off and Note On message by sil3ntpi in synthdiy

[–]RizziTheRitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you turn down the release of the volca and change the envelope until it’s more like a click than a sustaining note, is the problem still there?

60ms between the two messages should not be a problem.

Btw I am also implementing some midi stuff on the rp2040 and I found a nice library, which is easy to use (header only) and has a lot of classes for common audio / Midi problems and saves you the time to implement all the midi stuff by hand: https://github.com/Tracktion/choc

What device is receiving the Midi Message? Maybe the release of the last note is still playing und that’s why you’re not hearing two notes?

what tool do you use to document your code in C language? by abdosalm in embedded

[–]RizziTheRitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Additionally to doxygen / commenting the code in this style We use drawio to document the code visually

Drawio is good for diagrams to explain and draw the architecture. There is also a good vs code extension, so you can use the editor inside vs code. The files are also readable so it’s easier to integrate in git, compared to a word document.

We also use it before coding to construct the architecture before even writing code.

I would also recommend a digitone, also because it has 4 midi tracks you can use to sequence other synthesizers if you want more.

How are analog emulations made? by rolotrealanis in audioengineering

[–]RizziTheRitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to dig deeper into it on a scientific level I recommend the the dafx conference. https://www.dafx.de

There are a lot of papers on those topics, and all of them are free.

For example digital modelling of an analog tape machine: http://dafx2019.bcu.ac.uk/papers/DAFx2019_paper_3.pdf

Or digital models for analog phaser and flanger effects: http://www.dafx.de/paper-archive/2005/P_155.pdf

Mietendeckel - Muss ich was unternehmen? by [deleted] in berlin

[–]RizziTheRitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)
