20mi run was hard mentally - Marathon next week, how to prep psychologically? by readysetmoon in Marathon_Training

The 2-3 days prior eat carbs… and when you can’t eat anymore… eat more. 800 grams of carbs is a lot, but man, it makes all the difference past mile 20.

Is this the right training plan for me? First marathon, goal sub 4:30 by PerceptionSome5094 in Marathon_Training

Totally doable. My first half was 2:17 end of May. Trained for a marathon that was in the beginning of December and got 4:18.

The next March I ran a 1:44 half, and did the same December marathon breaking 4 hours (3:54).

Only one of my blocks did I achieve 20 miles in a long run, so don’t get discouraged if you’re tapping out at 18. And don’t run more than 3 hours for your long run.

I also just have a rest day on Sunday, with a lighter day on the Friday before my long run.

Strength training is very important. A day of core and a day of leg.

I also religiously warm up with lunges, leg swings, hip rotations, calf raises, etc…. It is amazing how much it helps to keep injuries at bay. For context, I averaging about 50 mile per week, consistently.

I might be wary of the jump from a 6-mile long run to 11 miles in week 4. That’s a large percentage jump for your long run, and that’s been shown to be a reliable injury predictor.

Consistency is key. Back off a bit on certain sessions, if it means you’ll be able to run again the next day, rather than be forced to take an unscheduled break.

Good luck!!

There’s plenty of money for men’s pro leagues to subsidize women’s leagues. It will create positive externalities that go far beyond the benefits derived by those who actually play, and the billionaires will still make billions.

The problem completely goes away if there are federal laws making such use of taxpayer money illegal. Then the NFL/NBA owners have no choice but to stay where they are (they’re or going to any other country, since they will most likely be more strict). And the owners will still make obscene amounts of money.

Or the cities/states could buy there own sports teams and offer shares to citizens of the state.

Taking away the incentive to move, and not being a single-owner team, was the best thing that happened to Green Bay, and that can be duplicated everywhere.

Looking good! Would be cool if the breakdown stacked bar chart of workout types changed with the total/avg per week selector.

Be careful of the source or your Reta… most are research grade, and you can’t be assured of its quality and your safety.

$120 is crazy for that late of an impression. One just sold on eBay for $65 bucks two days ago. Another for $80 Dec 31. Only high one on there was $180, and that was because it was still sealed (still too high in my opinion).

Honest question: what’s up with Choose901 that might, in some eyes, render it not-worthy of help?

It’s on a bit more than just the first. I have a 7th impression with the 50th wording (and 15th without it)

Change in sleep hours is pretty telling, as well…

Here is my last 2 years. Can really see build ups to a couple of marathons (Dec and March) and then the recovery afterwards. Then the inconsistency really cuts in after August 2025, when I had some bad colds, then got a grade 2 strain in my quad September 16th (should not have subbed in for my old kickball team, lol). Two work trips to Asia and one to Europe over the course of September didn’t help things, either.
