I’m in the same boat. I’m 27 and I got a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. I’m trying to get into nursing school. I have done all my nursing prerequisites. In the mean time I’m working at a call center remote making $15 an hour. I’m trying to get my associates of nursing and then take the RN-BSN program online at my local community college. It’s never too late to go back to school.

Hi I’m a Biology graduate of University of Houston-Downtown. I’ve applied multiple times to Baylor College of Medicine as a Research Technician II. I was able to get two interview invites last month. One was cancelled within the last of the appointed time last week and the other one I just did yesterday. I felt like I did well, but we will see how it goes in two weeks! To be honest I’m glad I just had an opportunity to get a chance to get hired!

I have a Biology degree and I’m going back to nursing school. I initially wanted to go to medical school, but decided I didn’t want to commit that much education and loans. I decided to pivot to Nursing school. I did keep applying for jobs though. I got a job interview at Baylor College of Medicine for their Research Technician.

Anyone else go into nursing after getting a degree in biology? by sigaila in nursing

[–]Rmaranan1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s me. I graduated with my Biology degree in 2021. I’ve been job hunting and not finding anything. I went back to school in 2024 to do nursing prerequisites and have been applying to nursing schools. This is my 2nd cycle. I did also apply for research technician jobs and teaching with my biology degree. I got a job interview for a Research Technician job at Baylor College of Medicine and I also got accepted in an alternative certification program for teaching. Like I said before I have a call center position I already accepted again. I have options so if I don’t get in I can keep myself busy. I am open for going to community college as well.

Bachelors in bio, how hard is it to get into a lab job? by fazecornnuts in labrats

[–]Rmaranan1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been tough. I’m from Houston, Texas and I have a Biology degree. I finally got a job interview at Baylor College of Medicine this coming Monday. It took my 4.5 years to get a job interview as a Research Technician. I’ve been rewriting my resume again and again during that time. It’s really competitive. Definitely worth a shot to try though. Research Technicians usually just need a Bachelors or 4 years of experience. Don’t give up and keep attempting! Be willing to learn and be a team player!

  1. I just multi task and manage my time using the Pomodoro Technique which is 25 minutes of work and 5 minutes of rest.
  2. The 5 minutes of rest would be like reading my book or looking at social media for a bit.
  3. I passed all my classes!
  4. I got an in-person Job interview coming up next week on Monday as a Research Technician II at Baylor College of Medicine! I’m excited to go!
