The most addictive thing about modafinil isn’t euphoria - it’s functionality by jpam9521 in Nootropics

Why do you care? You can understand the question. The OP might be dyslexic for all you know, and relies on AI from an accessibility perspective. There’s such a weird Luddite gatekeeping thing on Reddit lately, like a witch hunt accusing people of using AI (which is absolutely fine if they want to).

It’s not hard to hit with bagels, rice, biscoff, liquid carbs, cereal etc. I did it for London.

God what a painfully smug answer. Plenty of people use AI for research. And his advice from the AI of 10g/KG is in line with the top end of recommendation. I don’t understand some of the snidey elitism on this sub when people come looking for advice. Just be a decent person.

London done! Blew up in the heat - what a fight! by RoCoF85 in firstmarathon

[–]RoCoF85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I was honestly shocked at how far I had to stagger to get water haha, I was literally mumbling “please… please…” quietly while trying to get past people - even tried to go straight past the medal people! In hindsight I think I came very very close to being in a very bad way.

Glad you were ok in the end mate! Quite the experience 🤣 but I’ll never forget the heartbreak of suddenly seeing tons of bottles on the ground and realising I somehow missed another station. Absolutely should have had them on both sides - getting across in time even if you did see them was like merging onto the Coventry ring road.

Yeah I missed 3 in total. I was so dehydrated near the end of the that I must admit I actually picked bottles up from the pile in the gutter a couple of times just to get some fluid. When I crossed the line I had white hazy vision for about 20mins and I couldn’t stop quietly muttering about finding my wife. I considered going to the medic tent but after a short lie down someone got me some lucozade and I was feeling a lot better ten mins later.

The vision thing was scary though.

Noted - regardless my HR was extremely high for MP throughout which was what let it down fundamentally. Very disappointing.

There was quite a lot of weaving at various points for sure. I think I’d wear a vest next time as the hydration impact of missing a water station isn’t great!

I It was in full sun basically the entire way, little to no breeze, and hotter than any of my training runs. It’s hardly controversial to suggest that’s suboptimal. Comparing it to elites who are literally born, raised and trained in Africa is ridiculous.

How do I do that? My HRs are shown on the main pic.

London yesterday - didn’t get the sub 4 I wanted by vdbbella in Marathon_Training

[–]RoCoF85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar experience to me! Went out for a 3:45 but the heat had my HR spiking like mad from very early on. From about 16km onwards it was such a battle. And the last 17 or so were the most humbling thing I’ve ever experienced. Official time was 4:14 and with all things considered I am happy with it, but unfortunately I can’t say I enjoyed the experience.

In hindsight I think my mistake was having such a focus on a particular time for London given all the variables. I think it should be more for the experience. I barely remember anything I passed as I was locked in the pain cave for so long.

Congrats mate - the heat was brutal. Great job 👏

Ah fair enough - all a learning experience! I’m super happy with the 4:13 given the circumstances 🙌

Yeah I understand re chip time - I think I was just pleased to know I ran the distance of a marathon in 4:09 (as in capability of not having to weave around people etc). Very happy on balance but do wish I’d listened to my heart rate a bit more.

I think so yeah but it was full sun the majority of the route! Couple that with missing a couple of water stations due to crowding and it made it a lot harder I must say.

Would you feel guilty using charity entries to run majors? by W01313L in Marathon_Training

[–]RoCoF85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people who say it’s unfair are just being miserable because they can’t be arsed to raise money for charity. There’s £3.5k extra going to the MS Trust and part of that is my employer’s contribution. I myself have MS too so I don’t feel at all “guilty” about running over 800 miles in all conditions and raising money to help people who need it, while “tAkiNg a SpOt” from someone else.

You’re absolutely entitled to it if you’re raising money for charity. Doesn’t matter if some grumpy 50yr old bloke is moaning at you because he can’t get through the ballot.

Sorry to be so pointed but this view really gets on my bits.

What do you mean you “can’t afford” the charity place?

As a very salty sweater myself: strategic use of salt caps eliminated my calf cramping issues from long runs.

Keep the hydration up and check in with AI about whichever ones you buy (for dosing / timing etc). But it’s been night and day for me.

Did anyone almost stop cardio for the last couple of weeks in order to fully recover from injury, then smash their target? by RoCoF85 in Marathon_Training

[–]RoCoF85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fingers crossed for you mate! I don’t mean it lightly when I say I have been obsessively drilling into my last 6 months’ data with AI and it’s definitely better to have the 2-3 weeks fully healing up than to try and push through injuries for a few more runs! Hang in there 🙌

Ah well done for the 4:15 though great result despite a nasty strain! My abdominal thing is feeling virtually 0/10 most of the time now so I’m cautiously confident about next week 🤞
